HI- I had read somewhere to avoid driving to the MK. Is there a reason we should avoid this? Any experience with people driving vs taking the bus would be appreciated. We took the bus 4 years ago from POR, and will have a car this time as well. I'm guess the driving is better?

2) Do Disney resort guests get to park for free at the parks?

3) AAA gave us a parking pass. Will that get us a better parking spot or do resort guest get better spots?

Thank you in advance!

Hi!

The reason why people are telling you to avoid to drive your car to the Magic Kingdom is because the parking for the Magic Kingdom is at the Ticket and Transportation Center (TTC) and from there you need to take the monorail to the Magic Kingdom. If you take the Disney buses they will drive you straight to the Magic Kingdom, so you dont need to take the monorail. Personaly, even with that in mind, i still prefer driving my car :drive: , but thats my opinion.

As a Disney resort guest you are entitled to free parking at the parks. Regarding your AAA question, i have no clue....i'm sure someone else will be able to help you!:thumbsup2

:)

The previous poster is correct......you can't go directly to the Magic Kingdom via your own vehicle.

You will drive to the Magic Kingdom parking lot. You will then board a tram that takes you to the Ticket and Transportation Center. Next, you have to decide whether to take the monorail or the ferry over to the Magic Kingdom. It's a pretty long and drawn out process.

If you take the bus to the Magic Kingdom, they will drop you off at the bus stop which is very near the Magic Kingdom turnstiles. Must easier!

I guess it also depends if you're planning to get to the parks early. We were always there before opening and got a parking spot upfront where we didnt need to use the shuttle to the TTC. So basically, for us, it was a short enjoyable monorail ride. For closing time, we would board the resort monorail that still takes you to the TTC to avoid the long lines for the TTC (only) monorail. It was much quicker than to wait for the Disney bus with so many other people (I do have to mention that we were staying at the POP Century which always has the lonnnnnnnnnngest bus lines!)

3) AAA gave us a parking pass. Will that get us a better parking spot or do resort guest get better spots?
Yes, diamond parking is up near the handicap parking. Generally you just follow the signs or I think the green lines.

And each has it's seperate advantages!

I usually do drive, and yes, the AAA spots are close to the entrances. True, you'll need to take the monorail or the boat to the Magic Kingdom, but isn't that part of the fun??

Hehehehe.....that being said, at the end of a long day and night at MK, sometimes it's daunting to see the throngs of people waiting for those modes of transportation to the TTC.

We always drive to the MK, and all the other parks for that matter. It is just easier for us with the stroller and we like being able to get right back to the resort when we want. It is actually faster for us when we just drive ourselves. Also, when going to the MK, our DD really looks forward to riding on the monorail. It is part of the magic for her!
