We live 1 hour away from Montreal..

How long does it take to drive down?

How many nights do you stay at hotels on the way down?

What do you plan on seeing on your way?

Etc...

Any tip is welcomed!

Where specifically would you be driving from? My folks would leave from just off the West Island and drive to the 1000 Islands bridge and head down on I81. They felt it was a much nicer drive, and they avoided Washington and Baltimore.

I live in Lachute. If it can help you.

We thought we'd drive to Cornwall and cross from there?

I think you should drive the extra hour west and cross at Ivy Lea (1000 Islands). This crossing takes you directly to interstate 81. If you cross in Cornwall, you would have to spend time on secondary roads before getting to the interstate.
We drive almost yearly and our preferred route is Brockville, Highway 401, I81, I77, I26, I95, I4, Orlando.

We stopped in Rock Hill S.C. last time after about 14 hours driving.

Cheers
John

We thought about Lacolle too. Thanks.

How long does it normally take you guys?

2 days? Do you reserve in advance (regarding hotels along the way) or do you stop when you are tired?

Oh and I read about a place where a lot of people stop before they get into Orlando. Doesn't it have like a huge dinosaur or something??

We're in Mississauga but I grew up in Montreal. A friends father from Anjou takes that route down to Florida and Myrtle beach.

When we drive from Mississauga the map software says it should take 20 hours. Usually takes us 24 hours with stops etc.

I would try and break up the drive over several days. Try to do the majority of you driving the first day and have a shorter drive to Orlando the 2nd day.
Another strategy I've read about is on the 2nd day stay a couple of hours outside of Orlando and then you have a quick drive in the next day. Although any drive through a big city in the morning rush hour is no fun.

As for the place with the large dinosaurs you may be referring to South of the Border on the North/South Carolina state line.
All it merits is a 5 minute stop for a quick look and to fill up the gas tank.

Thanks guys!

It's still not positive we will drive..but it's a good possibility
