Quick question...we're traveling in May with a 9 yr old, 7 yr old and a 6 month old. We have decided to rent a mini van to make life easier so that we can avoid the busses at times. We're staying at POR. Am I right that we can park at the theme parks for free if we are resort guests? Also, we can drive to other resorts for dinner and park for free, correct?

Thanks...we've never rented a car before...we usually just use Disney transportation.

Resort guests do not have to pay for parking. You do not pay to visit other resorts unless you use valet parking at that resort. You will need to pay to valet park unless you have paid for it at your own resort, but the moderate resorts do not offer this.

Yes, you can park at the parks for free if you are resort guests. Also you can drive to other resorts for dinner and park there free. You just can't leave your car there and then go to the parks, you must eat, go back to your car and then drive to the parks.

Have fun!

Just remember to factor in extra time when going to the Magic Kingdom. Since you are driving your own vehicle, you will have to park in the TTC parking lot, get on a tram (unless you get there very early and get a close parking spot which has only happened to us once in 12 trips) and then get on either the ferry or the monorail. That takes up a good bit of time.

For that reason, taking WDW transportation to MK (even with an infant) makes more sense. For the other parks, drving yourself is just as good as taking the buses.

And remember, you will need to fold your stroller before entering the parking lot tram.

My friends complained about this last December--throughout the entire visit.
