Just read a thread about driving and a bit of a pain to the MK. We just went to WDW, but stayed on site and got around using their transportation.
We're taking a cruise and have an extra day and thought we'd spend it at MK using our rental car.

Driving around looked so difficult to me!

Once we find it to MK, what's with the parking? I'm guessing we can't just park it there and walk to the gate? Where do we park? Any suggestions of how to make this easy? I"m a bit nervous of being able to find it and hate to spend 1/2 my day just getting to the gate.

Thanks!:earsgirl:

Drving around WDW might seem intimidating but really it's not bad at all. The signs are pretty good.

The problem with driving to MK is you actually drive to the TTC and park there. You can take a tram like all the other parks, but the tram drops you off at the TTC where you have to either take a monorail or boat to the MK gate. This can add roughly 20-30 minutes to your trip to MK (or more if you take the boat and there is only one boat running).

I can get lost in my own backyard but I find driving from the airport to Disney and around Disney to be very driver-friendly.

There are several ways that you can get to the MK from the airport. Some involve vaious tolls, distance etc. The first time we drove, we just followed the signs that said "to Disney". There were many of them and gave you plenty of time to know when to turn. I think its maybe like 20 miles or so from airport to Magic Kingdom.

So I take it that you would not be staying on Disney property or close by for your extra night?

As the previous poster suggested you will park at the TTC (which stands for Transportation & Ticket Center). Since you've stayed onsite before you may have never been here before but this is where you can take a bus to various places on property. Grab the monorail to EPCOT. Grab the monorail or the ferry to the Magic Kingdom.

On your way from the airport as you get closer to Disney you will see specific exits for EPCOT, MGM, and Magic Kingdom. Just make sure to follow the Magic Kingdom. Eventually you will come to the turnstiles. There is a bus only line which is where you have been before. Disney buses are able to take you right up to the front gate. All other vehicles are directed to the Magic Kingdom parking lot (which is known as the TTC).

I promise that even though it seems confusing, it's really very easy to catch on and there are many friendly castmembers to ask if you get disoriented.

You'll have a great time!!

Well, that makes me feel better. Doesn't sound so scary.

So we park at the TTC. (they'll be signs directing me there?) then take the monorail to Epcot, then another one to the MK?

When we stayed on site, we just took the bus directly to MK. So it easier then. But if you say it's easy, I'm sure we'll be ok.

We won't be going their until after our cruise. We'll be driving to the MK from Port CAnaveral. We won't be staying on site for that one night. STaying at a hotel right by the airport since we have a very early flight out the next morning.

Thanks for all your help!

Don't worry. It is very easy as Ed and JC said. As JC said, just follow the signs for MK.....don't look for signs that say TTC. The signs for MK lead you to parking for the MK (which is at the TTC).

You just catch a parking tram to the TTC from the lot and then catch a monorail to the MK or EPCOT or the ferry to MK. All three of these start from the TTC so you don't have to go to EPCOT first if I understood your question correctly.

Catching the tram is a no brainer too as you will be joining everyone else and as stated there are lots of friendly CMs there to direct you.

If you are very early, you may be close enough once you park to walk to the TTC. Again....just follow everyone else or ask a CM.
