I know it has been covered before but I just can not seem to find the thread so I'll ask again. I will be coming down 95 from charlotte, NC. I have the mapquest directions, but I seem to remember some other suggestions on alt. routes. Anyway, if you have any little tips I would appreciate it.

I've travelled Rte 301 from Hernando, FL area up to JAX area once before, and have considered that as an alternate to the last section of I-95 and I-4. Only concern being the speed limits are low sometimes, and we were warned that they love to pull over out of state plates on that route. Not that I plan to be a lead foot with the trailer attached, it's just that it's not always easy to see all the changes in speed limits and what might look like a 40 or 50 mph zone can sometimes be rated lower due to approaching town or crossings.

Interested in seeing others thoughts as well.

We're lazy, we came down 77 to 26 over to 95 and then straight through Jax, to daytona and 4, both ways, no problems at all. Down on Sunday, up on Friday, and traffic wasn't that bad at all.

We've done the 301 rt before. For us it was more time consuming going through all the little towns and watching the speed signs. Long before we got to where we were going my husband was using 4 letter words every time he got stopped by a traffic light. Shifting through gears on the big truck got old fast---that was before $4.15 gal diesel. We'll stick to the interstates now and cross our fingers and hope for the best.

I remember some people talking about using some of the expressways around the east side of Orlando to miss that mess, but I don't know the best routes. Remember that these are all troll roads and you have to pay at the troll booths.

I HATE I-4 with a passion, so here is my route, which is the one I think people have been referring to.

I95 - go past the I4 exit and continue down to 407, which is a small spur that connects to 528 (used to be the Beeline, now called by some at least the Beach line). Take 528 west to 417 and continue on 417 to WDW - just follow the signs. The toll varies according to the number of axles - I have a dual axle trailer and I think my tolls run around 8 bucks. The route takes a little longer but you don't have the I4 mess to deal with.

But I-4 has some neat accidents.

When we were at WDW in 2000, we went to Universal 3 times and were stuck in traffic three different morning because of 3 different fatal accidents! What a mess.
