Driving: The ride home

Hi everyone!
I know it is early to be thinking of this(our trip is in Nov) but, I am a compulsive planner!! Anyway we drive to Disney every year and just drive back straight through. This time I want to take it easy and stay over on the way home somewhere between Disney and NY. Any suggestions? Any advice? I will be traveling with kids so I am really concerned with a clean, safe place to spend the night.

We used to stay over around South Carolina the first night and New Jersey the second. We also used to stay somewhere in North Carolina on the way down. It really all depends on how early or late you leave that day. We'd usually spend a good chunk of the last day (after we checked out) either in a Disney park, or at Sea World. We'd be on the road around 2-3 and make it to the first hotel around 10ish. Holiday Inns/Hampton Inns etc, are all good clean places to stay. Stay away from Best Westerns, because they are pretty hit or miss. They're either very nice, or nasty, since each one is independently owned and operated. That was a lesson we learned the hard way this summer, coming across the country.

We like Hampton Inn. Consistently clean. All have continental breakfast. Some will have hard boiled eggs and biscuit and gravy.
All have cold cereal.

Another thing is their Hilton Honors program, (like frequent fliers). You can double dip. You get both one Hilton point and 1 mile on the airlines participating for each dollar spent. It doesn't cost anything to join.

Another vote for Hampton - stayed at one in North Carolina - clean, pretty quiet, good beds etc.
