We're in North Alabama and we're 11 hours away 670 miles and we split up the trip. Not because of the distance, but because of time.
We usually leave on Friday afternoon after working half a day.
We drive as far as Ocala and spend the night there at a cheap Super 8.
The next morning we get up bright and early and head to our resort at WDW. We get a better room location because we check in early and have saved some money on the first night.
We have driven straight through before, but have always gotten terrible room location at our WDW resort.
When we leave WDW which is usually a week later Sunday, instead of spending the last night at WDW, we check out Saturday morning and spend all day in the parks and go to Pleasure Island for a bit (no drinking, of course).
We then drive the 2 hours to Ocala and stay at the same Super 8. Once again, we have saved money on the last night.
The next morning, we get up about 9, have a quick breakfast at Waffle House and we get going and get home at a reasonable 7 or 8 pm.
We have stayed the last night at WDW twice and on both occasions, it was after noon before we managed to get on the road and after midnite before we got home.
There are so many distractions at WDW to delay your departure.
There are no distractions at the Super 8 in Ocala
