Hi Everyone

Me and my DBF are off to DLRP on 21st Dec and we are driving and getting the Eurotunnel.

With all the snow around is it affecting the roads badly will we encounter many problems? If anyone has any info that would be wonderful!

Thank you :goodvibes

we decided to go by the eurostar for our trip 2 weeks ago, main reason being the worry of driving in the snow (we normally drive but not for xmas trips). in hindsight i would have prefered to have been in the car driving slower than on the train lol! I think add extra time for your journey, take it slowly, maybe pack some water and extra blankets just in case but i am sure you will be fine. maybe get some european aa cover or something just in case the car has snow related issues. have fun and wrap up warm

We go early on the 22nd but will be travelling to the Premier Inn at Ashford on the evening of 21st.

Last year we went the weekend before Christmas and travelled early on the Friday morning which was the same day as the Eurostar trains failed in the tunnel etc.

Due to the snow, the M20 had two lanes open and when we finally got to the Eurotunnel terminal, we had to wait about 5 hours.

When we came out in France there had been a lot more snow and the A16 was very bad (one lane just about open) but as soon as we got on the A26 / A1 etc the roads were completely clear - they had been well gritted and had used snow ploughs. Generally around Disney the roads were okay.

Thank you for your replies :thumbsup2

I will definatley pack some blankets and water/food etc. I have just bought European Breakdown cover too - good shout. Your comments have made me feel better about driving on the France side, they seem better prepared than us:rotfl:!

I really hope we don't run into to many problems, there is just no telling though really which way to travel is best, I think whatever method of transport we will be up against the weather.

Im most worried about getting home seeing as we travel back on the 24th, that could be a little chaotic, I have my fingers crossed for all of us!

Hi, I'm starting to worry about this too! We are driving down to the Kyriad on Sunday via the tunnel and coming back Wednesday after lunch. Have got blankets, snow shovel, AA european cover, bottles of water, enough food to cater for a small army (well, 2 hungry boys anyway!), and after the horror stories of the eurotunnel that got stuck last time..... things to be used as an emergency toilet!

I'm beginning to wish we hadnt booked a trip this close to Christmas, I really wanted to see the decorations but I'm beginning to dread it. I guess we just need to keep our fingers crossed that the snow stays away from here but the forecast isnt looking good :sad2:
