Driving in the snow...

I don't know where Darsa is headed- this is just one place I would NOT head to in Maine with a forecast like we are seeing.

Here we go, a bit of reference to go by :)

We live near Augusta. We're going to the Red Star:

East Overshoe (you'll have to zoom out to find Augusta)

It's snowing pretty heavily here now (RI). Started about an hour and a half ago, and there's already quite a bit of accumulation. If this is headed north, there's no way I'd drive in it. I'm rethinking venturing out to Target, and that's not all that far.

It's 12:37 here in SE MA and has been snowing almost an hour. I got home about a half-hour ago and already the roads were tough going - no way are we going anywhere tonight!

Stay home!!

Jill

Don't go. Lived in NH and MA and drove in many storms and still wouldn't go. It isn't fun. DH always says that it isn't just you that you have to worry about but the other drivers and their abilities. Unless it is a dire emergency it is not worth the risk.

My cousin in NJ just posted on FB that she skidded through a stop sign this morning and got broadsided (by someone who then took off). So not worth it to be out if you don't absolutely have to be.

I'm originally from Colorado (35 years), so snow is nothing new. I actually miss it! My thing was my teacher friends and I spending a sleepless night waiting for our Principal to activate the phone tree saying, "No school today". Of course, there had to be at least three feet and blizzard conditions. We always had Snow Days built into our school calendar.

OT, but I worked in Maine at Camp Kippewa on Lake Cobbosecontee (sp) for two summers in the late 60's and loved it! We used to go to a place called the Martha Washington Inn outside of Augusta (Auguster) on our days off. Also Orchard Beach and Boothbay Harbor (Hahbah). Loved it!!!!! Maine is really beautiful!

"Ya cahn't get theah from heah".

I don't blame you one bit. DH used to have to drive through anything to get wherever we were going. We spent more nights sleeping on the floors of fire halls and libraries then I care to remember. Once the kids came along I said NO MORE. We had to adjust our plans for Christmas because of the storm that hit our area last week. I would NOT be driving in that mess.

Well, the turnpike speed was lowered earlier today and now is back to 65 according to the website.

I don't know just what the weather holds-unfortunately the forcasters don't either. It seems now that this "historic" storm has already become just an average snowstorm. I hope you make a decision that works for all of you.

Hah! Minor battle won :thumbsup2 We went up on Thursday afternoon, and came home today before the teeth of the storm really sunk in. It was nasty driving all the way back from there, but we made it fine and we're home as of about 2:00 today. It's really whipped up into a frenzy out there now, I imagine it's only a matter of time before the fireplace and candles are lit.

Glad to hear that you made it safely.

Thanks for the update. I have been wondering about you. Glad all went well.:goodvibes

Glad you made it home safely. The snow is taking a nice break right now.
Funny we both live near Augusta. Small World. :goodvibes

I really wish when I woke up this morning this storm was finally finished but no...I realize we live in Maine and it snows here quite often but it's been snowing pretty much since Thursday and I'd like to be done please:eek:I just want to see the sun shining on all this new white stuff we got. I love my family a lot but this is an intense amount of together time;) okay done venting...thanks for listening.

Well I am considering going out and trying to find my car under all this snow in the parking lot :lmao:

I had to give up and turn off the outside deer-she was suffocating. The snow was over her back with just her ears showing! :rotfl2: Went out this afternoon and shoveled her out. Back to head nodding again

I live in an area that predicts storms that never arrive & doesn't predict storms that dump more than a foot of snow in a few hours - which happened on Monday!

Cheektowaga or West Seneca?
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
