How bad is it driving in Florida. We have our rental car from MCO, hotel on Irlo Bronson, going to MK, Universal, SeaWorld and Cocoa Beach. Is it hard to get to the in and out of the airport. Will arrive around 1:30 in the afternoon, so be on the road by 2:30, have to go back and pick up friends at 12:30 AM. Have done mapquest. Just looking for some advice. I really do not like driving, not knowing where I am going. Thanks.

I do not find the driving bad at all here in FL. If you take 417 from the airport it is a very nice road with not a lot of traffic. The Beachline and I-4 can be quite busy.

Driving in Florida is pretty user friendly , especially the Orlando area. A lot easier than trying to drive around NYC.

I was really surprised at how easy it is to drive in Florida. Everything is very well marked. Familierize yourself with the area with a good map before you head out. I found that helped a lot.

Just got back from WDW. I am a very nervous driver but found driving in Florida dead easy. Even when we took a wrong turning it was so easy to get back on track.

Ive been driving in Fl. almost 20 + years, ( from JAX to Key West) its a snap :thumbsup2
I would rather drive there than here in SNJ, the roads are very good, and signage is great at least around Orlando).
JUst take your time and dont be in a hurry and you will be fine.

FL roadways and signage are generally good. They figure most drivers are tourists . . . here they sign figuring most drivers are locals. They figure roads should go basically straight . . . here, either the cows or the town drunk established the roads. They figure left turns should be made from the left lane(s) . . . here, ever heard of "jug handles?"
Now, being a pedestrian is another story.

I have never had any serious trouble driving or navigating in Florida, and I tend to get lost pretty easily.

Getting out of the airport and finding your way to your hotel should be pretty easy with your Mapquest maps.

Irlo Bronson is more commonly known in Orlando and on these boards by its US Route Number, US 192 (usually just called "192"). It can be pretty busy at times; it's a multi-lane divided highway with lots and lots of shopping and hotels on either side. To make it easier to find your hotel when you arrive, I recommend checking the hotel's web ste for any pics of the outside, and also check out the aerial photos on Google Maps and Local Live.

Which hotel are you staying in on US192? If it's in a part that I'm familiar with, I might be able to give you more specific pointers about the area.

Staying at Quality Suites Maingate East. Thank you everyone. I have been reading the map. I will just take my time. .

These are just my observations on the driving around and in Disney. The 192 can be completey nuts at times and lately they had tons of construction going on. Though the routes and directions are fairly easy and marked, the nature of drivers is completely different then where we live, seems traffic does what it wants when it wants. Diving across 3 lanes to make a turn is common in Florida, its like a free for all or chinese fire drill. Keep viliglent and alert but avoid morning, noon and end of day rush hour. Going into Disney is like the Indy 500, tourists racing in, CM's doing like wise and throw in the Disney buses and keep a sharp eye out. Doable but not my cup of tea.

So true!!!
I guess it depends on what you're used to and what time of year you're going (Sept. vs. Christmas) I've stayed along Rt. 192 about 7 times and I find it very easy and convenient.
