Driving from Western New York

We will be driving from the Buffalo area in August towing our 27 ft. travel trailer. From what DH tells me our route is I79 to I95 in GA. The plan is to leave Friday afternoon and drive into Washington, PA. The next morning we leave and drive until Savanah, GA. Sunday morning we complete the drive to WDW arriving around lunch time. We're wondering if anyone has any suggestions or helpful info regarding ourp lan. Anyone have info about towing a trailer through the tunnels in VA? Is it allowed... is it easy to by-pass? Please offer any thoughts and suggestions. Thanks!!

Where are you picking up I-95? I've driven from Binghamton, NY a couple of times and I don't recall any tunnels.

We usually go down I-81 to rt 17 in Winchester, VA to I-95 in Fredericksburg, VA....Then it's all the way down I-95 to I-4 by Daytona over to Orlando.

We always pulled a pop-up camper on our treks to the world when I was a kid.

Great memories of 6 in a car, with no airconditioning, that 70's long hair flapping all over the place, with the windows down. Skin-to-Skin contact of our legs in the back.....

Our kids wouldn't survive it today!

we are from central ny we did 81-77?-95. Stay away from va 95 if you can it is bad!!!!!! bumper to bumper

thats either the route i remember or the combination to my gym locker in 7th grade, not sure.

We usually do 81 17 95 but we have done the 81 77 26 95 route. You will pick up 77 of or 95 from the other direction then we do. after that we found no tunnels, not much traffic except for Charlotte which you have to go thru,and quite hilly travel. Its also less popluated so watch your fuel and food stops, you may go a ways further then the more busy routes.

and that is a good route for Central NY.

Mary is coming from Buffalo, where it makes more sense to head to Erie and pick up 79 south rather than 2 hours + east to pick up 81 south.

Thats what I said, she will pick up 81(with 77) at Wythville Va,take 81/77 to the split where I would normally join it , so I have only traveled that portion of her route.
