I live in West Texas (Abilene) about 3 hours west of DFW and we are thinking about driving to WDW in November. It woulld be 2 adults and 1 five year old. Would you do this or fly? What is a reasonable amount of time to get there? Where is a good stopping place? Thanks !

You should really consider flying. I think Abilene to Orlando is two long days which could be tough for a 5-yr old. If you could make it into the Florida panhandle at least you'd have a shorter second day. Look for hotels along I-10 at Pensacola or Crestview depending on how far you dare go that first day. And then you have 2 days back.

If you only have a week off, that's a lot of time driving.

I would definitely fly. We live in Needville(Texas) and the drive is
17 hrs. for us. We drove twice already with both my kids(ages at the time were under 10). It is very hard on the kids and hubby. You are exhausted
when you get there and the drive back home is no picnic either. We are
flying in March this time. :dance3:

In addition to the good advice you've already gotten, also please note that flying is statistically safer than driving.
