Hello all. We are planning on driving from the St Louis area in June for our trip. Looking for any advice/tips from anyone who has made a drive from this area. Thanks in advance.

Hello "neighbor" :wave2: It has been quite a few years since our last drive to Florida. I remember staying a night somewhere south of Macon Georgia on the way down. We also got stuck in a bit of traffic in Atlanta, so try to avoid that during rush hour if possible. Have a safe trip :)

:wave2: I haven't driven to WDW, but wanted to say hello as I live in Edwardsville and we also are going in June!

When we drove from the St. Louis area, we also stopped somewhere around Macon, GA as well. We left St. Louis around 8am, stopped for lunch somewhere in TN, and then had dinner at a Cracker Barrel near Atlanta. We got to the hotel around 8pm with enough time to swim before going to bed. We left the next day around 9am and were in Orlando by early afternoon.
On the way home, we left Orlando around 8am and stopped in Chattanooga, TN, for the night. I had made reservations at both hotels ahead of time so we knew where we were stopping.
I don't think we could ever drive that w/o stopping overnight. This time we are flying. :cool1:

Hi, neighbors! :teeth: We drove Sept 2003 to DW. It was a 17 hour drive non-stop both ways. We both work nights. It was a great drive. DD8 and DS3 slept most of the way. We made sure we had plenty of drinks/snacks. A portable DVD player was great. We left @ 10pm so the kids would sleep. The drive home seemed to take forever, but if we were to drive again we would stay overnight. Last trip we Sept 2004 we flew SWA 59.00 each way. Why don't you try and download ding!..you might find a great price for your timeframe. :thumbsup2

We live in Camdenton and have driven to WDW three times. We have stayed in Chatanooga, Macon, and Lake City, FL. This last trip we drove straight through and it took 18 hours. Atlanta is terrible, but I-75 is still the best route in my opinion.
Have a great trip.

Thank you all for your input. With airfares right now, we are heavily leaning towards the drive. I have DING on the computer, so we will wait and see. As of right now, I was looking at an early morning (4 or 5am) start and trying to make it down into southern Georgia. That way we only have a few hours the next day. We have the portable DVD and such for the kids. Plus being a military family, we have had some good experience with long drives. Thanks again to all of you.

Hey there! Have you looked into MidAmerica Airport? If you do end up driving, the half way point is approx. Atlanta...You don't want to go through Atlanta during rush hour...It is a long drive though...Don't plan on driving straight through. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!
