I will driving to disney world for the first time in July. This will be my first trip into the USA period. When i type our location into google maps it has us cross the border at sarnia and then go down to detroit and onto the i 75. To me it looks simpler to go to windsor and cross the border there. Then you are on the i 75 almost right away.

What way do you guys take. What are the pros and cons of each.

We are not big fans of 75, find it quite a boring drive. Not sure where you are driving from but we go from Toronto and go down through Buffalo down 90 to 79 to 77 through Pittsburgh. Also, if you are a member of CAA get there Trip guides. Tell them the route you want to take and they will put together these great maps for you - Hope that helps

Every summer my family and I drive down I-75 because it's the easiest route you can go. If that's the roue you take don't forget to purchase Along Interstate 75 by Dave Hunter. It lists every exit from Michigian - Florida border with every Hotel chain, restaurants and gas stations located off each exit. Also an important section of the book is a detailed map with directions on how to reach Interstate 75 after clearing United States Customs at the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit.

If you are travelling in the summer, the I90/I79/US19/I77/I95 is the most beautiful route and the shortest from Toronto area.

I believe the border crossing is not as busy in Sarnia as in Windsor, altough it is still busy. There is also a lot more construction on the 401 near Windsor.

we have driven the last 4 years. We cross at Sarnia (usually at 5am), since it is the easiest crossing, and take 94/96 to Detroit. I prefer I75, since it is a simple drive (I75 from Detroit to Ocala, with a brief bypass in Macon). Using Along I75 makes it nearly idiot proof, and this route has the most hotels/restaurants. I took 95 as a teenager (to Daytona), and hated it, since we ran into a gas issue, and were nowhere near a 24 hour station.
The key is your proximity to Sarnia/Windsor, in deciding where to cross.
