We are driving from West Palm Beach to Orlando after visiting DH's family for a few days. A friend told me that there is a toll road you have to take to get from WPB to Orlando and that it cost somewhere around $30 once they paid all of the tolls. Is this true? What road is she talking about? Anyone know anything about this? Thanks for any info!

I was looking at doing this drive myself a few weeks ago - I belive that it is the Florida Turnpike. The other option was to take I-95, but most of the locals told me that it would take 60-120 minutes longer due to construction and traffic.

60-120 minutes is a long delay in getting to the mouse, so I was going to take the turnpike until my trip delayed...

Go to http://www.dot.state.fl.us/turnpikepio/NewWebPages/system_roads.html and click on "Turnpike Mainline."

It's not $30. From Okeechobee Blvd. in West Palm Beach to the Osceola Parkway exit, the cash toll for a car is $11.90. The tolls to take Osceola Parkway from the Florida Turnpike exit into WDW are another dollar or two.

Florida's Turnpike is really the only way to go. Taking I-95 is much further because I-95 stays near the East Coast of Florida. And taking various 2-lane or 4-land surface roads is slow because they're not as direct as the Turnpike either, and your overall speed will be less due to towns, traffic signals, stop signs, and so on.
