DH does not want to but I would like to drive next trip to WDW. I realize gas prices fluctuate and different cars get different gas mileages but could any of you from the New England area please post approximately what you spent in gas, I would really appreciate it.

We drive a minivan, but honestly, I have not one clue as to how much gas would cost us roundtrip.

Also, do you make reservations for an overnight stop ahead of time or do you just see how far you get and find a place?

Thanks!!

We drove from NH last year, and spent around $450 total on gas. We have a Ford Escape, and probably spent about $30 each fill up, (I think we stopped 7 or 8 times each way). Also make sure to include money for meals on the way down. Someone on here posted a link to a AAA site where you could estimate the amount of money to spend on gas based on your type of car. I think it's in the "For those folks driving" thread.
When we went last year, we drove straight through (left at 5pm), and it's something I'll never do again! Too much stress and lack of sleep.
In 2003 DH and I drove down and left at 4AM, stayed the night in Florence, South Carolina, and drove the rest of the way the next morning. That was a much more relaxing trip  We didn't pre-book a room, we just found one with a vacancy right off 95.
Good luck, whatever you decide to do!

Thanks for the info, I'll have to search for that AAA link. No matter how high gas goes this year I'm pretty sure it would still be cheaper than 5 plane tickets and the cost of a rental car. Thanks again!

It can only be done even somewhat comfortably in three overnights each way and the cost of food and gas and rooms, which you should book in advance to save. If you come in you pay rack rate.

anyway you arrive tired and miserable your vacation time needs to be twice as long and you return home tired and miserable.

By all means keep an eye out for a good airfare and fly. the drive from MA to there is just not worth it.
