Has anyone driven from Hilton Head to the Port on the morning of the cruise? I see that it's six hours according to Expedia. We are driving from Philly and have ressies at Disney's Hilton Head resort the night before the cruise.

Last cruise we arrived on Saturday a.m. -- but timing is tight on this one as we are celebrating Thanksgiving dinner with out of town family on Friday night in Philly.

Any thoughts from anyone who has done this?

Thanks!::MinnieMo

We drove down the day BEFORE the cruise, and I'd say 6 hours is about right. We hit traffic at Jacksonville, for quite a ways in each direction - this would have been 3-4 pm.

Thanks for the info -- anyone else have any input?

I have made the trip from Orlando to Savannah (which is nearly to Hilton Head!) several times, which means I'm on I-95 from Daytona all the way up to nearly Hilton Head. Normally I would say that 6 hours sounds about right, as long as you don't hit Jacksonville at rush hour.

However, If I'm reading you right, you're in Philly the night after Thanksgiving, then driving to Hilton Head on Saturday, the rest of the way on Sunday? Driving anywhere the Sunday after Thanksgiving is a time to count on bad traffic. It's one of the heaviest travel days of the entire year. Luckily, you aren't coming through any toll roads (toll booths have terrible backups in Fla that day), but I would count on leaving a bit early in case of delays. Generally, the later in the day it is, the worse the traffic gets that day.

Hope this helps. And if I misunderstood the dates you were referring to, pay no attention to me! ;)
