I am thinking of driving down to florida from ct on my next trip instead of flying. Has anyone done this when they are the only adult/driver in the car. It is only myself and 13 ds. I am tired of flying. If anyone has done this how long does it take, two full days? Do you think it is safe?

Go to mapquest.com and put your info in and that will give you a great idea of how long it will take you.

I think that is a lot of driving for one person. I hope you are allowing yourself plenty of rest breaks. I think flying would be much easier.

I live in CT too and I could not do it. Maybe if there were a second driver, but not on my own. It gets pretty tiring after a while. I drove to Philly on my own and that was a breeze. If you do drive, leave super early in the morning since you will have to go through NY. Early am is the best/fastest way to get through there. Otherwise you'll be stuck on the cross bronx which is a nightmare. I got airfare on Spirit for $39 one way out of LGA. I am renting a car one way from Budget for about $45 so I can get to the airport.

It could be a great learning opportunity for your 13 y/o if you drive and plan on stopping at some landmarks or something. It takes 24 hours I think non stop. Good luck! Whatever you choose, you'll have fun!
