And looking for a few answers...

1. Is there in heavy construction along I-57, I-24 or I75????

2. How are the gas prices along that route?????

Thanks a bunch!

I know that gas prices along I75 are usually very low - we've gotten some of the lowest priced gas ever in Georgia off of I75.

We drove down I57 recently (only as far as Peotone) and didn't encounter any construction so we're keeping our fingers crossed that they don't start any. Yeah, right!!! Springtime in Chicago wouldn't be the same without all of those fancy construction roadblocks and barrels.

I'm a little concerned about driving I24 through Tennessee though because of the recent 12 car pileup that they've attributed to a problem with dense fog. I'll let my DH take the wheel through TN and then I'll resume in GA, but only until we approach Atlanta -- I hate the traffic there, the crazy drivers and the screwy signs. If an exit is approaching and it is on the right, the sign is on the left leading you to believe that you need to be in the left lane and then, WHAM, you've missed it and you have to drive about 15 miles down to circle back, LOL!

We live in Kankakee County and right around the Bradley exit area on I-57 they are starting with construction, doing the pre work such as building the roads that allow south and north bound lanes to merge onto one side...

As for gas, right now its sitting right around $1.39....

I just came back from a trip to St. Pete, and here's what we came across (I flew down and drove home w/my parents who had been there since January). There was a LOT of construction on I75, especially between Macon and Atlanta. At one point, the southbound lanes were backed up for miles to to a lane closure - this was right around Atlanta, but I don't remember if it was north or south of there. Gas prices weren't too bad. A couple of places were $0.99 for regular, but I think we averaged $1.09-$1.12. This was on March 6-8.

We are going to WDW later this year, and were planning on driving (I actually do most of it, and really don't mind it - I think it's a control thing!), but after seeing all of the delays heading south, now I'm thinking that if I can find a good airfare, we may just fly.
