I am driving from Canton, Ohio to Orlando in June. It will just be my DD17 and myself, so we want to stop around 10-12 hours into the trip. Any suggestions?

I think I am about 8 hours south of Canton and about four hours north of Atlanta. So Just before or after Atlanta would seem about right.

Atlanta is about 11 hours...but we don't use 75 when we go to Disney World...

We take I-77 to I-26...pick up I-95 to I-4, which takes you to Orlando...
The first time we traveled that way, we stayed in Rock Hill, SC...I do NOT recommend doing that! It wasn't a very nice area...
Twice we have stayed just above Charlotte, NC at exit 28 and it was a great place to stop and I was very comfortable staying there.

The area outside of Hilton Head and Savannah is around 12 hours drive and is also a good place to stop...

Hope this helps...:goodvibes

Thanks for the info on Rock Hill, I was actually thinking about that area. How far is Charlotte NC from Orlando? We have always stayed near Savannah, but I think I want to stop before then.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn in Rock Hill last year and it was very nice EXCEPT there was a softball tournament that weekend and when we got up in the am, there was NO ice in any ice machine. The coaches were filling up their coolers. ;)

Charlotte is about 8 hours...If that's not far enough, maybe you could try somewhere around Columbia, SC...it's a little over 9 hours...
I really don't know anything about that area...we've never stopped there.

Just wanted to say we were in Canton last July and loved it a nice little place to be.!!

I live in Youngstown, and sorry, but i wouldn't drive. Too long for me. My son is 9 and i know it woulod be too long for him. My brother does drive and they stay near Savanah, Ga. Not sure how many hours this is, but this is always what they do. We are going out Of CAK this vacation - it was the best deal over CLE or PIT and is a direct flight. Check their fares -- i am sure it would be cheaper for 2 people with the price of gas over $2.40 a gallon and the airport would be within minutes of your home! Anyway, whatever you choose, HAVE A GREAT TRIP!!!

I found a great Ding rate out of Pittsburgh yesterday, and I almost jumped at it! It would be cheaper than driving. But, we really don't mind the drive, and we are going to the beach afterwards for a couple of days. And, my older daughter is graduating from college this spring, and she might come, but isn't sure yet. So we really didn't want to book a flight, and then maybe have it fill up and/or not get the same great rate.

When we do drive, we always stay in Savannah, but I think I might want to stop a little sooner.

We used to live in Canton and actually just got home from visiting family in town. We have driven to Disney from Canton at least 6 times. 10 to 12 hours into the drive will place you between Columbia, SC and the GA border. We have stayed in Columbia and was not impressed. Many of the roadside motels along 95 in that stretch are not exciting either. I would look at Charlotte or drive to Savannah. We actually found it better to drive straight through. It took an average of 16 hours from the area near Central Catholic High to the Disney entrance. Enjoy the trip!!

A couple of hours south, here, but we usually drive to lower SC or Georgia. This makes about a 10 hour drive for us. I love driving to Florida. We have 3 boys that do great in the car, and it is nice "together" time.

Hi, Neighbor!:wave2:

When my youngest DS and I drive from Barberton, we always stop in Columbia, SC. I like to stop before it starts getting dark. If we leave early (around 6:30 AM) we can be in Columbia around 4-5 PM.
