Well, I was sure that SW would eventually release some affordable flights for our dates. I was wrong. We have flown every time we have gone since having our kids. Now, our drive is not awful-10ish hours. I’m getting anxious about the drive as it approaches!! Our kids are 5 and 8, and we have done several driving vacations to other places, typically breaking it into about 4 hour chunks. Tonight I booked a hotel in Brunswick, which should give us a rotten day before, but a short drive on arrival day. We won’t be able to leave until lunchtime, but that will mean drive, bed in our hopefully clean hotel, then maybe hit a few sites and on to POFQ!!! We are planning to drive our hybrid crossover rather than our van, so I’m hoping to fight my urge to overpack!!

10 hrs isn't bad. Too bad you couldn't do it in 1 day and save yourself the hotel stay but I understand with little ones it's not always possible. Unless you left really late at night while they're asleep and were comfortable driving during those hours.

There's nothing like watching the sun come up whIle you're driving lol..

We could do it, but we like to arrive early in the day. Driving overnight isn’t appealing for us. I don’t want to waste time we could be spending exploring our resort or DS driving! Arrival day has become a huge part of our trip. Literally until 2 hours ago, we were doing it all in one day.

We always drive from md. For us we always leave at like 8 or 9 pm. That way they sleep most of trip. We stopped first trip in Savanah. But now we just drive thru.

We drove from Central Missouri to Valdosta GA (14 hours) to Disney, total about 17 hours. We left about 9PM and drove overnight, flew right threw that late at night. Stayed in Valdosta and we were up and on the road at 6AM the next day. Still to this day when I hear the Thomas the Tank Engine song I get an odd twitch, but the kids made it through. The drive there was the easy part, the drive home O M G.

Our drive was 15 hours from CT to Savannah, GA. We left at midnight, arrived around 3. Left late morning next day, stopped for lunch and arrived at resort in Kissimmee about 2 or 3. I have 1 child who has always traveled well, thank god. Lol, sometimes we forget she's in the backseat, quiet little mouse

We are driving from SW MO. We don't usually make Valdosta-more like Macon or McDonough. Leaving in am this time (Thanksgiving week we left after school got out the Friday before and drove nearly through night) so will stop when we get tired.
