We will be driving down to WDW at the end of April. We are leaving 4/26 and will arrive 4/27. The two days we are traveling are during the week and I'm wondering if anyone knows if we will hit a lot of construction traffic on the way down? We plan on stopping overnight in Rocky Mount, NC the first night. It will be my husband, our almost 4 year old twins and myself. Any advice will be appreciated. Linda

We do it every year from Long Island... We leave at 3 am (we are an hour from Verrazano) and drive to Brunswick Georgia getting there around 7 - 8 pm. We do not stop for terribly long. Our 2 girls just want to hurry up and get there. Depending on how your kids do in the car, you should be able to make it farther than Rocky Mount. I highly recommend leaving as early as possible. The kids go back to sleep in the car and you can get in quite a few good driving hours without them even being aware. As for construction...there was some real nasty traffic in D.C. that was finishing upand should be completely finished by now (they redid a bridge and opened it last July). Other than that there isn't much going on that I recall. Go to this site and check it out http://www.usastar.com/i95/homepage.htm . It isn't that bad of a drive at all. Just a little mind numbing at times !

There are still lane closures in GA for work that has been ongoing for three years now. The Wilson Bridge in DC is open and while traffic is still congested, it's definitely flowing better.

try to stay away from the Baltimore/DC area between 6:30-9:30am

Actually staying away between 6:00 and 10:00 would be even better. DC rush is in full swing by 6:00. We try to be AROUND DC NLT than 6:00Am---

We have driven many times from NJ. Last trip was November.

One issue we have every time is in Northern VA a few miles after the Wilson bridge. ALWAYS get stuck there. Do NOT hit that area between 3:30 and 7pm. Causes horrible delays and too much stress........ for me at least.....

Good luck.
