Driving around Orlando and over to Cocoa

I will have a rental car while down there and plan on dinning out at some Orlando resturants and maybe drive over to Cocoa Beach. How hard is it to get around Orlando and over to the Beach area?

I find driving around the Orlando area quite easy. All the theme parks are well sign-posted. The drive to Cocoa Beach takes around an hour, just take the Bee Line Expressway.

I am a single mom with two kids (aged 9 & 7) and we drive around Orlando all the time. It is well marked and I would compare it to driving in a city about the size of 100,000 or so. Where do you live? I live in Southern Ontario and would compare it to Hamilton rather than Toronto.

FYI, it is now called the Beach Line. It is supposed to make it easier for tourists to understand where the road goes. Unless you are in the middle of Orlando during rush hour you will be fine. If you are staying near the resorts you won't have any problems.

You can also take toll road 417 directly from the World which spills into the Beach Line (yep, it used to be called the Bee Line) east of the airport.

For some reason I still prefer to take free 4 up to the Beach Line..it just seems faster, but I can't tell ya why. I do get frazzled stopping every 10 seconds to throw money into that dern bin tho...Beach Line is cheaper by a bit than 417, but either way it is an easy drive....oh, I noticed that people driving from Cocoa to Orlando drive WAY FAST and creep up on your butt and high beam you when you are going 80.

We did this both times we were in the area. Very Simple! Hope you enjoy! We thought Cocoa Beach was very nice!
