Hi

Once again I am using DG login ( She will never find out  :cool1:)

Just a bit of a advice really. Its the first time I am driving in the US. Ive had a look around a few sites but nothing really sticks out....

What are the main rules to watch out for / or do when I am driving over in the US ? A few Do's and Don'ts ?

Also, we have hired a car with Alamo. The confirmation sheet appears to have all the waivers and insurance but is there anything else we will need ? :confused3

Thanks

OK, let's see:

1) Remember that we drive on the other side of the road (This is the most important one.)

2) When you stop for a red light and you are making a right hand turn, then you can take the turn even if the light is red if there aren't any cars coming (i.e. the cars with the green light have right of way). You can do this at any intersection except for ones where "no turn on red" (I am not sure of the exact working in Florida) is posted.

3) The highways to WDW are toll roads. Some of the exits require exact change (i.e. the booths are un-manned). So please make sure that you have some change with you. Also toll booths normally don't take pennies.

Thank you Donald 1 :thumbsup2, yes have to say that driving on the other side of the road is going to be interesting!!!

Can any one tell me how much the toll roads will cost, just so that i can get the money ready before i get to them, don't want to cause a traffic jam!!!

thanks :)

According to AllEarsNet AllEarsNet Directions, there are two $1.25 tolls between the airport and SSR. I believe that all of those toll plazas are manned. I think that it is the one to AKV that may be un-manned. (Yes, I just checked. It is the one near AKL/AKV that is un-manned exact change only ($0.50).

Florida is full of tourists and Senior Citizens be prepared for sudden stopping and turning without signaling and sudden lane changes! In other words lots of people who don't know where they are going and decide at the last minute.

Thank you again :cool1:

Im now going through all my money jars to find some american change
