Driving Advice - Long beach to Anaheim vs. Pasadena to Anaheim

OK, we have six people arriving at two different airports, and then departing from two DIFFERENT different airports.

The only common denominator is the Long Beach Airport, where my SIL is flying both in and out.

So I am thinking.......all the SuperShuttles are going to really add up.... (especially the one from Burbank to BWPII)..... maybe we should just rent a minivan.

What I am wondering is what the driving is like, stress-wise.

I don't think I would want to be the driver, and I would have a stroke with my husband driving, (I live in Alaska. We have three roads) . . . but my SIL used to live in ATlanta, so I'm thinking she could handle it fine.

She could rent the car, drop the family off in Anaheim, come to Pasadena and pick me up.

Then outbound she would just have to drop my family off at SNA and then take herself to Long Beach airport.

Is this a reasonable plan, or a stressful and ridiculous amount of driving?

I think we need more details - who needs to be where when?
DL to Santa Ana to Long Beach isn't bad. Pasadena is the way out there leg.
I'd think someone from Atlanta could handle LA/OC traffic ok. Most of our drivers are still fairly polite ( less all the time though ). If at all possible just avoid rush hour(s).

Driving to/from Long Beach would be straightforward - head west on Ball Road to get to LGB.

Take the 5 to 605 to 210 West to get to Pasadena.

Take the 5 all the way to Burbank. *Maybe* the Burbank contingent could take Amtrak to the Anaheim station - there's an Amtrak station at BUR.

Took me about 5 minutes to get used to driving down there, and I flew into the LGB airport and drove about 7pm at night to the hotel....the freeway was packed. But other then that first nervewracking experience I didn't mind driving around down there.

Thanks for the responses. I think I may have had another thread that touched on the same subject, so sorry to repeat, but these answers are new! I'll look into Amtrak.

In a nutshell:

1. I will be in Pasadena for work.
2. Husband, kids, SIL and nephew are flying into Long Beach.
3. We are all going to Disney.

4. DH and me and kids fly home from SNA.
5. SIL And nephew fly home from LGB.

The shuttles are really adding up, which is why I thought of a car (which I would have to pay to park at the BWPPI). And dropping off at a different airport also adds a fee.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I still have 2 months to figure it out.

If you decide to rent a car, use priceline...I got an awesome deal for 11 days at 225 out of LGB.

Amtrak is only $15!!!

But they don't accept checked luggage at Burbank. Dang! I feel like I'm getting warmer, though!
