And we were wondering if there were any neat places that we should stop and see. We are travelling with my DMIL and DSIL as well as DS (3yo) We are already planning to stop at the Longaberger city/factory, but needed a place to stop on the way back.
We like things that are historical, unique, artistic, and DMIL would like something with meaning. :confused3
I would like something that would not bore DS.
Anyone have any good ideas for things that are not too off the highway that would be fun?

up here in NEO we have the rock and roll hall of fame(cleve) and the pro football hall of fmae (canton)

Are you driving across the north half of the states or across the southern part of the states? And what time of year

Will you be off of 70?

Indianapolis Motor Speedway - my boys loved it last summer - they were 10 & 11 then.
The Underground Railroad Museum is in Cincinnati. We visited that last Jan - again my boys enjoyed it.
Cincinnati has a nice zoo.

Sorry, I guess I should menion we are going I 70 to Columbus, then I 71 to Cleveland, then I 90 to Buffalo.

We have already done the rock and roll hall of fame Pop Daddy. And we are not sports people, sorry.

We are going in July.

The Underground Railroad sounds good, but how do I explain to a train-obsessed kid that there will be no trains?

Are there any train things to see out that way?

The Gymboree & Pottery Barn outlet near Dayton ;)

The Children's Museum of Indianapolis is awesome but that takes a whole day. Somewhere off of 70 is Wilbur Wrights birthplace which is kind of interesting.

You could check out the Indian Mounds around Newark and Circleville. If you are travelling at the right time of year, you might catch a performance of "Blue Jacket", an outdoor drama about the history of the Shawnee Nation (check out www.bluejacketdrama.com).

And if you are traveling in September (on any weekend past Labor Day), you can come see me at the Yankee Peddler Festival.

You might try www.1800buckeye.com for more ideas. That is a travel sight chock full of things to see and do in Ohio.

I'll second that. We'll worth the time though. And the museum, etc. at the Speedway are great too.

Probably wouldn't interest your little one much but Parke County Indiana has some cool things to "see". Lots and Lots of Covered bridges, round barns, etc.

Covered Bridges

I remember taking a train ride with my FIL somewhere in the outskirts of Cleveland. It was wonderful, but I can't remember where it was. It was very woodsy. (It was the eastern suburbs of Cleveland if that helps--I want to say Solon, but I think thats wrong.) My son was close to 3 years old when we went it was great!

Chagrin Falls is pretty. There is the waterfall, a park to play in, fun shops to look at and it is fun to see.

I found the website.. it wasn't in Solon, but it was the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad.

I would suggest that if you are going through Columbus to check out the Columbus Zoo (especially if you have kids). My wife is from that area and swears it is one of the best in the country. I took her to the National Zoo in DC and she was unimpressed and told me I need to see the Zoo in Columbus. to really see what a zoo is. Someone can correct me, but I think Jack Hanna got his start there.

Have a safe trip.

Great ideas everyone!!!! Now I just have to choose! The zoo sounds good, so do the Chagrin Falls and the Potterybarn outlet! Ooo! And the Children's museum sounds fun too. I guess it will depend on the weather.

Pop Daddy, it isn't an illness, more of an affliction!
