Drive to WDW via Poly?

Our family will be there in August. We are renting a car and staying at POR. Initially, we were planning on driving to all the parks except MK; it seemed it would be faster to use WDW transportation. However, I have been hearing lately that the bus service to and from POR is very crowded. Since we have dinner reservations at the Polynesian, I was wondering if it would be faster/better to drive to the Poly and take the monorail to the MK (instead of using WDW trans). After dinner we could just drive back to POR. Is this even feasible? Would the Poly allow us to park there in the morning? (Just in case you haven't figured it out, we've never been to the resort). I'm also up for any other options.

We went to the contemporary for breakfast and wanted to park there all day and take the monorail to the magic kingdom,The gaurd told us there was a 3hour max. for resort visitors but he said it would be o.k this time! So I guess it all depends on who is working!

You can't park at the Poly all day. Even if you could I don't think it would save much time over parking at the TTC.

You can park at the TTC in the morning and take the ferry or monorail to the MK. When you leave take the boat or monorail to the Poly for dinner. You can walk to the TTc after dinner to get your car.

Thanks for the advice. How long is the walk from the Poly to the TTC? Would it be better to just suck it up and take the bus from POR? If I understand it, the bus takes you to the MK, not the TTC, is that correct?

I agree with the previous poster, park at the TTC and walk to the Poly. The walkway is all the way to the left near the tram area. It's probably a 5 minute walk. After dinner, hop on the monorail to MK or Epcot. At the end of the night simply return to the TTC.

Enjoy!

I am a driver. If I were you I would get on the bus to the MK. It's the one park I ALWAYS take the bus to. Front door drop off!

Remember that "bus horror stories" are not always factual. I once got on the bus with a man at OKW who started YELLING at the driver that he had waited almost an hour.... I looked at the driver and said "funny, I waited 20 minutes and they showed up after me" Jerk sat down and shut up... time in your room does NOT count LOL!

If this is the only day you think you have a problem with transportation...save yourself boatloads of cash and cancel the rental car. The transportation from POR is very good. If you happen to have just missed the bus:rolleyes1 , walk from the bus stop to the front area and get a cab(if time is of the esence). Personally I like taking the Monorail from MK(I find it very relaxing)...but please save the money, and the headache.
