We will be driving to Disney this weekend for a vacation during Thanksgiving week. I would appreciate any advice on getting around the parks. We will be staying at the AKL. We will probably drive to most parks, but I heard the parking lot is far away from MK, so it is more convenient to use park transportation. Is this true, or am I all mixed up. It will be me, my DH, DS-7, DD-6, and DD-turning 2 on Thanksgiving.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me,

AKL has good bus transportation, but is not on the monorail line. If you really want to drive to the parks, you can do that. Except to MK. The parking lot for MK is at the Transportation and Ticket Center, across the lagoon from the MK entrance. This leaves you a ride on the ferry boat or monorail to complete the trip. Personally, I would take the bus to all the parks, and drive to Downtown Disney which is a long trip by bus.

Thank you so much for the advice. Do the busses drop you off right at the entrances of the parks, or is there still a walk?

Buses to parks leave you off right near the entrance to the park. Parking lots for all parks other than MK are outside the front entrance (but you take a tram from parking area to front entrance). Driving to parks other than MK is quicker than bus. Bus to MK is quicker than driving. Nevertheless bussing to any theme parks is OK. Where you want to drive is to go anywhere else like other resorts or Downtpown Disney.

Take the AK bus to the Magic Kingdom...sit back and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Florida.
