Drinks - Bluezoo, Kimonos, Hangar Bar?

We have an Omakase reservation at 7:00 (Sunday night) in a couple of weeks. I'm getting so many different recommendations about where to go for a drink before hand. Part of me would like to get to DS first to be there, walk around and know we are "on time" so I'm leaning towards Hangar Bar. We are staying at Dolphin though. We have never been to any of these places and hubby has never been to Disney Springs. Can you go into the Edison for a drink or is there a cover charge on the weekends (sunday)?

Thanks!

Don't know much about the Edison, but Bluezoo is amazing. I had Hawaiian Sea bass with miso butter sauce while DW had Red snapper with spanish chorizo and rice. Halfway through, we switched and finished each others plate. Both were perfect, but very different. We had a NE clam chowder and scallops to start. Both were sublime. We did not have dessert. I would not hesitate to go there again. We stayed at the Dolphin in November on points for 5 nights. I also like the food at Phins. I would have liked to try to the enormous bloody mary cocktails for Phins or Shula's at brunch. I have heard good things about Hangar bar cocktails, but not the food. Stick with Bluezoo even for an early dinner. We enrolled kids in kids club then spent the evening in Epcot. Bonus is child care is discounted with an entree purchase from signature restaurants and they did a great job feeding our kids.

thanks for the review. i thought i read somewhere that childcare was free if dining at a signature restaurant. is that true? we are going this november for 5 nights booked on points!

I like the Hanger Bar you can sit by the waters edge and have a drink while overlooking the lake.

If you are going to AK and want a drink and to relax a bit try Nomad's Lounge by Tiffins.

There are TONS of great spots for a drink in Disney Springs. I don't know about Edison (haven't been) but there's Boathouse (regular bar and another one out on the dock), Hangar Bar, Homecomin', Frontera, Dockside Margaritas, Paddlefish (rooftop bar). Personally I'd go with Boathouse or Paddlefish rooftop but you really can't go wrong. If you're taking bus transportation and going to worry about being on time, I'd agree with your plan to head there early to explore and grab a drink. As long as you're staying at the Dolphin, I would see if you can find the opportunity to stop into BlueZoo for a drink... the atmosphere is fairly typical lounge but they make some really delicious and unusual cocktails in addition to the standard offerings. Have fun! If you have a chance, come back and tell us about Omakase -- that's on my bucket list!

Oh thanks for all that! Having a drink outside sounds like the best option.

I don't think it was free, but was 1/2 price for each child for each entree. Somehow that ended up with 2 hours at 1/2 price per child, I think. We still payed $30ish plus tip for over two hours of child care for two children, which I thought was a deal, plus they fed the kids.

You really can't go wrong with any of the DS places mentioned and that would be my choice just because of the location/travel aspect, but if you get another opportunity to check out Bluezoo I highly recommend it, they have great drinks!

Someone on these boards recommended ordering a Manhattan at Bluezoo. I didn’t make it there my last trip, but I’m going to try to get there next month.

I see on the S/D website that they have a “punch” hour at Phin’s starting at 4:00. It seems that they make a big batch of various punch flavors and sell it for a special price until the batch is finished.

Phins had a "smoked" Manhattan that looked neat, but not $20 neat. I did not like the Phins and feathers IPA, but some of the other Florida craft beers were good. I think my wife had a dark and stormy there that was good.

In fact, for those that may not know, The Florida Cracker Ale by Cigar City is great and light and goes perfect with seafood dip or shrimp cocktail for an app. I also like the KeyBilly Beer with Key lime juice. Really nice to drink in the heat. I think they had both at the bar when there and sold in the retail store.
