How do you make yourself drink water all day? I NEVER drink water except for 1 bottle at the gym (if I even finish that one).

I had to get blood drawn and the lady had to stick me several times and eventually got it out of my hand. She asked how much water I drank and I told her. She said that my veins (and me) are dehydrated (not the exact words she used). I imagine that my whole body is in a constant state of dehydration.

Oh, its not just water. I could go all day with out drinking ANYTHING.

Anyway, what is your tip for getting enough water for the day?

I drink gallons a day - I LOVE water! The more you drink, the more your body becomes used to it. I'm on my second liter of seltzer already.

I don't have any tips, but after reading your post I went and got a glass of water. :rotfl:

I drink nothing but water and quite a bit of it. Now I can easily tell when I'm dehydrated just by how I feel.

For someone not used to drinking it, or someone who insists they don't like it (I was one of these), I recommend making it a more enjoyable experience. Drink it chilled from a pretty wine glass with a slice of lemon or cucumber. Make a point of drinking it. Have a glass or two with each meal. Have a glass while reading a book or watching the news.

I started out having to plan it but now I just have it with me all of the time.

We had a seminar with a record-breaking, world class marathon runner who has also done a lot of research on sports medicine & physiology. He said the proper way is to slowly sip it throughout the day.

Just keep your water bottle near you and sip it throughout the day, and refill as necessary. If you are not drinking enough, you might not actually like the taste of your water.

NYC water is great for making pizza & bagels, but I can't stand the taste. :p If I have to drink it, I'd actually rather go without and be thirsty. But, when I buy a gallon of Poland Spring water, that gallon is gone in about a day & a half. :thumbsup2 I have no problems getting it down or reminding myself to drink water. :drinking1

I don't drink much either. I usally have a 12 oz mug of hot tea in the morning, about 8 oz of water at lunch (at most), and then another large mug of tea when I get home. In the evening after dinner I will try to push down another 8 oz of water.

I have had issues where I've had trouble with the blood draw but that is if I go during lunch and haven't eaten or drank anything. So, now I know and on the day of the blood draw, I force myself to drink more that morning.

If you aren't opposed to artificial sweeteners, mix it with Crystal Light packets. :thumbsup2

Or, just adding some lemon or lime juice can be good, too.

Keeping your bottle near you is the biggest help. It's like having a candy dish on your desk - you eat it mindlessly whether you are actually hungry or not - only it's healthy. :)

I add crystal lite packets to my water bottles. Its the only way I can drink it.

I love Fiji water but it is pricey. Maybe if I have a big bottle of that water on my desk all day I will drink it. (As I sit here staring at the bottle of water that's been on my desk since last week.)

I always keep a bottle of Ice Mountain on ice at work. I also squeeze those little packets of lemon from Starbucks into the bottle. People look at me like  but it makes it taste so much better.

I never drank water either until I had a kidney stone that they said could have developed from being so dehydrated. Well now I drink water all day long. At first I had to force myself, fear is a great motivator, but I will say that now I actually crave water all the time. I always have a water bottle with me if I'm out and at home I have a glass of icy water wherever I am. I think you really have to force yourself - it's taken a few months for me to really get in the habit of drinking water.

I pretty much only drink water, unsweetened tea, and black coffee. I love it so it isn't hard to drink it for me but when I lived in FL I bought a Brita pitcher. It not only made the water quality better but by keeping it in the fridge it was ice cold, the way I prefer it. Our water quality up here is pretty good but I still use the pitcher with the filter.

I realize that I'm probably the only person in the world who thinks that the Brita pitcher (filter) makes my water taste funny.

I have one, my husband uses it and everytime I try I think "Blech" this tastes weird.:confused3

I used to hate drinking water; started forcing myself once I went on this "life change" diet, and now I easily drink 80-100 oz a day. I was pretty amazed at how good it made me feel; that time of the month isn't nearly as painful an experience; I no longer have breakouts (tho stress is doing a job on my skin now); and my hair and nails have really improved as well. I do attribute a great deal of all of that to the water I drink. :thumbsup2

Ouch on the blood draw! Yikes! I'm a hard draw, and I used to take it literally when they told me to fast, I wouldn't even drink water. It was difficult then to get my blood. Then they said drinking water helps, so now I always drink a bottle or more before I have blood drawn, very few problems that way.

As to drinking water, I don't drink a lot of plain water. But I love sparkling water and drink at least a liter of that every day, sometimes more. I usually have 2 cups of coffee in the morning, and sometimes a cup of hot tea or bouillion in the afternoon as well.

If you like tea- hot or cold- you are getting water.

I find (even though they cost a little more) that we drink more water when I buy the 8 oz. bottles.

Eat chocolate!!!

Seriously, I LOVE my water ice cold, but it's best with a little piece of chocolate.

You may like the chocolatemint water from metromint. A lot of flavored water has sweeteners and garbage added but metromint and hint water use just natural flavors and oils. If anyone doesn't like just plan water these are good alternatives. Buying natural liquid flavor oils and putting some drips into plain water can do the trick too.

All we have in the house to drink is water. My dh loves Perrier so we buy cases of that at Costco for him, I can only drink that mixed with Chambord or Disarrano! I only drink water with my meals or maybe iced tea that has barely any sugar in it. I'm drinking a pomegranate peach passion white iced tea right now and then I'll fill it with water when I'm done. My kids love water so they drink that all day and usually with their meals. It's easy to drink water all day when that's all you have in the house!

Oh yeah the Hint waters and along the same line as those are Ayala's herbal waters that I thought were just awesome.
