Are there drinking fountains throughout Disney parks where you could refill water bottles? And if so, for the most part, is the water cold?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Yes there are fountains. A few actually have cool water but Orlando water is pretty nasty. One of those filtered water bottles might be a good investment if you plan on drinking tap water regularly.

Also most CS 's will give you some FREE ice water .You can use that to fill

I had read somewhere that you should not take the ice, that is surrounding cold food stuff in the buffet meals etc, to add in your own water bottles. According to this cast member, the water that is used for this ice is not drinking water and is not sanitary.

If you manage to find a water fountain with actual cold water coming out of it, let us know the location, OK? They are few and far between!

We do not like the water at WDW. The only water we will drink is the filtered water at resturants or bottled. We have learned to just budget for bottled water.

Thank you for the replies. Can someone tell me how much the bottled water is at the refreshment carts, etc...? I think we will just plan on doing that! :)

According to "allears website" $1.25 to $2.50 for bottled water. I'm packing the individual packets of cool aid, crystal light and making packets of gatoraide as I don't care for the taste of regular water.

Hope this helps BTW Allearsnet has menus and prices for all eating establishments throughout WDW - parks and resorts.

Thank you, HRPro. I have already purchased some of the Crystal Light and Kool Aid individual packets - like you, I'm not big on plain water but I don't like to drink a lot of soda either.

I am off the check Allearsnet. Thanks for the info! :teeth:

I guess I am paranoid about Drinking Fountains. I won't use one! I know that Disney probably keeps them very clean and everything but YUCK! I am bring my own water bottles or buy some there...I know it can get expensive but I can't do it. Am I being silly? :confused3

You could always take those lipton iced tea or crystal light drink bottle mix ins. We did that in January when we went down. It's not water, but it is hydration. Plus my 3 year old thought they were so neat and now associates them with Disney!

I'm not a big fan of drinking fountains either. I am taking two sport type bottles with freezable cores, I'm going to get ice water from a CM at breakfast and fill up then and as the day goes on I'll continue to get ice water from CMs. I'll also use crytal lite, cool aid and gatoraide. I don't allow DD5 to have diet stuff so she gets the cool aid and gatoraide. :wave2:

The fountains under the train station at MK are always REALLY cold. They are always our first stop so that we can fill our Britas, which we carry in insulated belt pouches.

We also always stop as we leave the resort and fill the Britas half-way with ice as we leave the hotel, since cube ice is not dense and heavy to carry.

Using those single packets for water bottles is great! we've been using them for years! when we go to Disney we usually freeze water in a 2 quart insulated container and when it starts to melt later in the day we add one of the large sugar free mixes into it and have nice cold drinks the rest of the day! You can use Crystal Light but they are a bit expensive. Walmart has their own brand which are 10 packets for $1.27...seems good to me. I find that one packet is good for up to a litre of water depending on how much flavor you want. I don't know about you all, but I get tired of drinking plain water all day! give it a try....you'll like it! :thumbsup2

I agree, the water is not tasty from the fountains. We went for our first trip in 2004 and we each took a full bottle of Propel with us to Epcot. It was warm (May) and we quickly drank our supply, saw a fountain, filled our bottles, but when DD5 (at the time) put the bottles to our mouths, the smell was too much. DH said he didn't smell it, but we had to buy water there. I was much better prepared the rest of the week.

The water starts out as sanitary drinking ice (if it wasn't, they could not have it in contact with food). But it doesn't stay sanitary since it is in contact with the outside of containers and people's hands as they reach in and take the food out.
