I read on another thread that you could sample different beverages from each country. Are these beverages alcoholic or not? If so, how much on the average does each one cost. I am going with some friends, and I am sure that my friend, Dan, wouldn't mind doing something like this. (We aren't alcoholics, just wouldn't mind sampling what each country has to offer.) Plus, it will be my birthday! So, does anyone know about this, or am I just crazy?

I never heard of sampling alcoholic beverages. But last year we went "Drinking Around the World." Every country we stopped at, we had a drink. You could imagine Germany, Italy, and Japan and Morocco (they're pretty close together and we went one after another, since there we no shows in either one) I walk pretty fast too, so 11 drinks in 4 hours. It was pretty fun :)

EPCOT World Beer Tour Manual

As for cost, as I recall the beers are usually between $4 and $5 each. Have fun!

As for sampling, the Rose & Crown sells a sampler of 6 oz each of 5 or 6 different draft beers, I don't know the cost. A pint of any draft beer in pretty much any country will be $7.25, give or take a quarter. Last month we replaced the Dos Equis in Mexico with a Maugerita, other than that we stick to beer. Word to the wise, don't go near the bottled Casablanca beer in Morrocco. If you want to have this experience at a fraction of the price, put a bottle of Bud Light on the dashboard of your car, in the hot sun, for a week. Then chill and 'enjoy'. That's Casablanca.

Thank you so much! I just printed it up! Now, as long as my girlfriend doesn't care about me drinking so much, I don't think I'll have a problem!

My pleasure --- if your lady has a problem with it, I would suggest deferring to her. The choice between domestic happiness and 12 beers is a no-brainer. ;)

The "sampler" at Rose and Crown is 10 or 11 bucks. I actually just found out this was offered this weekend, an amazing idea for those that haven't tasted them all....

We find that after the first initial attempt to have a beer at all the countries, we form favorites and spend more time in those countries....Rose and Crown is my favorite, followed by Biergarten....Becks dark...yum...

It's worth doing once, it was definitly a memorable experience...at least I can remember the beginning of the process.... :rotfl2:

You described Casablanca perfectly. I will not be trying that one again. I also didn't like the beer in France. Was there more then one to choose from? It was warm so that may have ruined the taste for me.

Just be careful when mixing drinks! I'm a 100lb female and I did drank around the world (not in order):

Margarita in Mexico
Beer in Germany
Beer in UK
Sake in Japan
Chianti in Italy
Champagne in France

and the inside of a Poly toilet for the rest of the night. :confused3

Try a Welsh Dragon at the Rose and Crown....end the night with a Viking Coffee in Norway....yum! Japan also has a fine selection of mixed drinks.

:sunny: Cheers!

I really enjoy "Drinking Around the World", it's one of my favorite things to do at WDW!
AS far as Sampling, I'm pretty sure you're refering to one of my favorite events at Epcot: The Epcot Food and Wine Festival, where you can sample food and drinks from around the world for a minimal amount. But that only runs from the end of September-November. But it's well worth it. You'd love that Festival! :drinking1

I can't wait for that! We're getting married on November 11th and we'll spend Sunday the 12th enjoying the festival. What a great way to start a honeymoon!!

Oh my gosh! Congrats! My husband and I got married last May and we spent part of our honeymoon in WDW! We had such a nice time and our favorite day was the day that we took the time to drink our way thru the World Showcase.
But my sister and I went to the F&WF in OCtober last year and what a good time we had! You guys we'll really like it! Have fun! And congratulations on your engagement! :lovestruc

congratulations!! this coming november 11th will be our 6 year anniversary!
i'm trying to talk DH into doing an 11th anniversary vow renewal on 11/11/11 at WDW.. but, back on subject. i've drank beer around the world, but not being much of a drinker, i got to italy and couldn't go on. we started in mexico.
it's way fun!

Mexico - One of those 3-in-one margueritas
Norway - beer
China - chinese wine (it was sooo sweet and yummy!)
Germany - dark draft
Italy - wine
USA - Sam Adams (of course)
Japan - Sake of course!
Morocco - mmm, those Tangerine Daquiris!! I had 1 1/2, because my friend wimped out around here and I had to finish hers
France - fine wine
UK - a pint of Harp
Canada - I had a glass of wine, but at this point I don't even remember ordering it.

Everytime I got a drink, I had the CM who sold it to me write me a little note in a Kidcot Passport I bought. It was sincerely a great experience. And guess what! I was okay.. ... ... until the next morning at MGM.. yikes... Try Tower of Terror with a hangover. It is not quite as fun.

Thank you and congrats to you as well! You should definitely try to do the vow renewal...I know there's still spaces left for everything.

HI everyone!! I like the kidcot idea. I think I may try something like that. :thumbsup2 I definitely want to have the drinking around the world exp. We have 3 kiddos and are taking our first :cheer2: WDW trip the end of Nov. thru first of Dec. We plan to take a couple of nights off and do grown-up stuff. I can't drink beer though, but I will try anything else. (almost :) ) What is sake? Is it a beer? My favorite drink is a Mudslide, not that I can handle many, but they are sooooo good, I tend to hog'em. :bounce: OHHHH I just can't wait.

we also do drinking around the world. we mix it up between beer and wine depending on the country. we end in england and depending what time it is and how we are feeling we have either a guinness each or a yard each.

while this is fun to do, please remember wdw is a family place with lots of children around--so know your limits. unfortunately i have seen a few people lose control of their language and actions.
