Drinking around the world?

Can someone explain this to me? Is it an actual event or just something to do? Thanks!

Not a specific event. Many groups, however, will engage in the "challenge" of drinking around the world. The idea is to have a drink in each country of the World Showcase throughout the day. You can start in either Mexico or Canada, though it is generally recommended a group starts in Mexico with margaritas rather than Canada where beer is the only choice. There aren't really any rules, but it's definitely a fun way to spend the afternoon and evening to see the World Showcase in a different way. Save your money, it is not a cheap endeavor! Also, make sure time is on your side.

As stated, not an actual event. You can go to several websites to get the menus for each country's drink offerings (allearsnet.com is a good one) and then choose what you want to do. One drink per country? Or one beer per country? Or one wine per country?

Also as stated, not for the less than eager to spend money group. It can be expensive.

Personally, if you are there for more than a few days, you could "drink around the world" during your trip. Just handle it slowly. Do maybe 3 or the 11 countries a day. And also partake in a dessert or other treat with your drink selection. Then you can actually do "drink around the world" and "eat around the world". Just not all in one day.

Does it still count as "drinking around the world" if you split it over 2 days? Lol

The way we play is we each get a drink with the option to split- with 11 countries, that's 5.5 drinks each person.

We normally print out a cute drinking passport and have the kidcot tables at each country stamp them.

The idea is to taste everything around the world- if your day is longer or you'd like more of a buzz, try getting two or three drinks to share at each pavilion.

We do this every trip, but we split many of the drinks. Especially the beers because they are so filling.

I've never made it past Germany. That German beer is good. Last year we started on the other side and just went straight to England and stayed there ;)

That sounds like something I'd be really good at for the first three countries and then not so good for the rest. :cool2:

I like to start at different countries. Take all day. Have lunch and dinner. I like to end at Rose and crown with Illuminations. Mexico always screws me up...especially if we go into la cava. I think a Glacier Shot at Norway is a good way to "cleanse the palate". We split beers sometimes, simply to save "room" and calories. But I am not sharing the grey goose slushie. Canada does have some kind of cosmopolitan (torontopolitan) drink instead of beer. And you can't skip the African outpost!

I got my DH and DSL "Drink Around The World Passports" on line. They wore them around their necks and had them signed at each country. They only made it half way around the world. They are finishing the second half next month. :cool1::cool1:

I have accomplished drinking around the world, but never had a glacier shot. Please share, what is a glacier shot and where in Norway do I get one?!

We got them at the kiosk out front. Linie Aquavit Glacier Shot - it is the test to see if you are a true viking! :)

My nephew was there just for a day and got a beer in every country. I've managed a margarita in Mexico and wines in Germany, France and Italy and a lime drink in England.

Japan is the most difficult to find something for me. But this could help...I am looking forward to the next time now. Japan's spirits!

The first time I "drank around the world" I made the mistake of being talked into trying sake, WARM sake. Not my thing. The next time, I tried the plum wine. Better than the sake, but still not really my thing. So, the next time, I tried the Kirin beer. Bottom line - Kirin was the best choice in Japan for me so far.

That is pretty much my experience. Maybe next time I will get the bloody mari!
