Hi again All! I just had a question regarding the drink bar. I know DCL has the Soda Card option thing but I was wondering if you brought a resort mug or your own mug can you fill with juices and stuff as well?
Thanks

I do this all the time! I have a mug from the park that I constantly refill at the drink station -- Deck 9 Aft.

How much is it for the soda card and what are the rules for it?

I think the soda option is $5 a day.

I would think that it's ok to use resort cups for the free juices, milks etc. You can't use them for soda. It's included in the cruise price and free anyway so why would they care what kind of cup you use?

I think RCCL has a card you can buy for kids for $20 for the length of the cruise. Does Disney have something like this?

I've not used it but I can tell you what I know...

Depending on the length of the cruise, the soda mug is $35 for a 7-day cruise, $20 for the 4-night, and $15 for the 3-night. Prices may have changed. If you purchase it later in the cruise, you don't get a break. You simply ask for a refill of your fountain soda of choice using that mug. On Castaway Cay they give you canned soda as their are no soda fountains.

For beer drinkers there was a similar option available but I don't think they do it anymore. From what I read, you get a souvenir mug 20 oz. with cheaper refills than buying 16 oz. cans.

There is a free drink station on the boat that has coffee, tea, ice water, milk, and lemonade. I keep hearing different things about other possible options being or have been added but this is what was on my cruise. I saw one or two people using Resort mugs but I don't know if this is considered OK or not.

Thanks for the info. Just wish I didn't have to carry a mug around. Rather just have a card to show.

Nobody ever said anything to me about not using my resort mug at the free beverage station (Deck 9 Aft). I've never tried to pass it off for the DCL refillable mug. I don't drink soda often enough to warrant the soda package.

We have filled "thermal" mugs with lemonade on Carnival and RCCL without a problem. It keeps the drink cooler when laying by the pool. I don't know about Disney but can't imagine that it would pose a problem? . Is the $35 for the soda card the adult price or childs price or both? I tried to find this info on DCL website but was unable to find it. Are soft drinks free in the dining room with dinner? One soda a day is plenty for my guys...they would love lemonade with lunch but aren't tea drinkers. Thanks for any help!

The $35 price is for everyone. They put a sticker on your card and you show your card at the bars. For $3 more, they will also give you a thermal mug.

I saw people filling everything from water bottles to pitchers at the beverage station.

I used AAA and so the mug and sticker were free. Since I don't drink soda (weird, I know), I used the mug for water - which was really wonderful on Castaway Cay - the Konk Coolers were nice but the rum starting getting to me in the heat of the afternoon.

If you want the actual mug - it's $38. If you just want the sticker on your card and no mug - it's $35 as DoctorP stated above. However, the advantage to the sticker on the card is you can share this with your family. My dd went up to the bar one night while we were in the theater and got 2 sodas - one for her and one for my dh and then I decided I wanted one if they didn't question her - and she came back with one. We definitely got our monies worth from the sticker!

December99 is absolutely correct, but I want to make it clear that we neither bought the soda card with the intention of sharing it, nor did we regularly share the soda card. I think DW and I each had two sodas off DSD's card the whole week.

Are they still using the stickers? Last I checked the sticker was dropped. No mug, no soda. Not sure how they handle it on Castaway Cay since you get a can but I would think you need to still show that mug.

We don't drink enough soda to warrant getting the program but if you are a die-hard soda person, you have the option. I liked the lemonade! :D

You could always consider bringing your own soda. I saw people lugging soft-sided coolers with soda in it on our cruise. Don't know if they frown on that now with travel restrictions needing to be so tight but you could ask.

Stickers were the basic item for the 7/19 cruise. The mug was an optional thing--the sticker was what was required to get the drink.

We had the AAA free mugs last year and really didn't use them much. I usually drink 6 - 12 diet soda's a day and didn't think I would survive without my soda but found the fountain soda to be too flat for my liking. I was very happy with the ice tea from the drink station.

We went last Nov. and I have heard many people say things that are different now than what it was then. The drink station was open past Midnight when we went and now I hear it closes at 11:00. Does anyone know the current close time? The ESPN refillable beer mugs are gone now? Do they still let you refill a souvenier tropical drink glass with a drink from the bar for the same price as a regular drink? I didn't know that you could do this til the end of the cruise and I'm hoping it hasn't changed. When did they start giving out cans at Castaway Cay and are they still doing it? I think that's the only time we used the cups and I would have love to have had canned soda.

At the free beverage station.. that is what it is there for!
We usually bring our sports bottles from DCL and DVC on the trip and fill them nightly with water for next to our beds..
now trying to use a mug for soda is a whole other story.. that would be unethical

No, the beer mugs are not gone. I don't know the specifics but the ESPN mugs are still available.
I got a mug for $20 on the 4 day and also a sticker. I did get soda on the island as well, from the fountain--coke for DH. No cans. This was 6/29 cruise.
Next year AAA and mugs included--but in truth we probably will use them more for the tea, etc. on deck 9.
