I will be going to Disney in September and want to do MNSSHP. It's my first time but have done the Christmas party before. Can and do adults dress up on a September night? We don't want to dress up if we will be the only ones.
I was reluctant to dress up on our party night but I did anyway and was glad I did There were plenty of adults in costume so I didn't feel out of place at all even around those that weren't. You should do it if you want to!
We just received our MNSSHP tickets in the mail and the letter that came with said Children are encouraged to attend the party in costume. But, nothing about adults. I found that odd.

Yes, adults do dress up and it is SO FUN! I went in 2013 with my twin sister and my cousin. I dressed as Prince Eric, my sister dressed as Belle, and my cousin dressed as Tink!
We're going back this year, my sister and I are dressing as Jolly Holiday Bert and Mary, my cousin and her boyfriend are going as Kiss the Girl Ariel and Prince Eric (I believe), and my aunt is going as the Fairy Godmother if she goes.
