Does anyone dress in Hawaiian attire? Do they provide the leis or is this something that people have to bring from home? I have two young girls and thought it may be fun to wear a few flowery items.

Don't see why you shouldn't dress tropical if you wish, and I think they do hand out leis at least to the kids when they do one of the activities (at dinner), or they used to.

We had breakfast there last Monday & they provided leis upon arrival. They also took a family photo (that will be presented for possible purchase during the meal). Breakfast was very good & our DSs loved the character interaction.

Our kids have sometimes gotten leis at dinner time when they have done the sing along etc... As for attire I have never seen anyone dressed in Hawaiian attire but that certainly doesn't mean you shouldn't.

For dinner they pass out leis to the kids as they participate in the games, people celebrating an event,...and anyone who wants one.

I would absolutely wear something tropical. You will fit in perfectly!

Have fun!

Our kids got lei's when they participated in the activities. In fact they got one, each activity they did.

My girls love to get dressed up in tropical/Hawaiian attire for 'Ohana...it is their favorite restaurant! I have seen lots of people dressed tropically over the years we have gone. You can always get the flower leis in the lobby when you come into the Polynesian. (The artificial ones.) It is special, we have met my DH's aunt for dinner there sometimes and she has surprised my girls and myself with the real flower leis you can order there that Auntie Kau'l (the cultural ambassador at the Poly) makes. They are beautiful and a souvenir to treasure.
'Ohana and the spirit of the Polynesian is wonderful, enjoy! :lovestruc

We have and have not gotten leis. Now we know to ask for them if we aren't given any. I don't care really, but DD likes to have one.

I have seen a handful of people in tropical attire, not many though. I see no reason not to wear it if you want to. I don't think anyone would consider your look at all out of place. DD 6 just bought a tropical Hawaiian-print sundress and wants to wear it when we go in September.

My boys wore Hawaiian shirts on the last trip. This time, they are wearing red shirts with little white flowers on it (think lilo's dress). I will applique stitch on the back. They are sooooo excited. They love stitch.

And we went for breakfast last year and all got leis. I didn't really want one, but didn't want to be rude.

thank you everyone for your replies, now i have another mission, to find something interesting for my girls to wear for Ohana. I love to make it as fun as possible for them. Actually i think i still have grass skirts from a few years ago that they could wear.
