Dressing for dinner - will DH be embarrassingly out of place in shorts every night?

I guess rules don't apply to you. You know what i find really annoying? People who think they are above the rules. You won't be allowed to wear whatever you want. Yes, there are still limits to what is acceptable even though they have been relaxed over the years.
Yes rules apply to me, I didn't say we wore bathing suits etc to eat, we abide by the rules, but my point was for the OP not to stress about what everyone else thinks and just be comfortable.

^^^ Clearly everyone's version of "proper" is different. Don't think i remember reading about prom dresses and suits anywhere. Me thinks thou dost protest too much.

Lots of suits mentioned in this thread. I'm not protesting anything other than people passing judgement on those who are actually following DCL rules. It doesn't matter what anyone else's version of proper is. If the clothing abides by DCL rules, it is proper by DCL standards and that is all that matters. When the "proper" PP takes over for Karl Holz, she can dictate what is proper attire for anyone other than members of her family.

Methinks you should actually read some Shakespeare to get your quotes right and to understand their meaning. Where got'st thou that goose look?

Pretty sure the meaning is self explanatory... however not knowing your gender i strayed from the more accurate... The lady doth protest too much, methinks.

Yes, you passed judgment by throwing in your "prom dress" remark. So i will go back to my original statement.

And while this has been fun, this thread has gotten way off track...

Aw, you can google. How nice. The phrase suggests someone who is strongly denying something is hiding the truth. Your application of the phrase, therefore, has no meaning in the context of my response nor in the context of this thread. I wasn't denying anything nor was I hiding any truths. I was actually stating fact in regard to DCL dress code rules. So I will go back to my original statement.

No, not off track at all. This stuff always comes up when people ask about dress codes on DCL and in WDW signatures. This thread topic has been rehashed time and time again with people stating the actual rules versus people making up their own to apply to other people. Word to the wise - read the dress code for yourself and make your own decisions. Don't go by random rules people on internet forums come up with to try to shame you into wearing what THEY think is appropriate.

No judgement on prom dresses. They are allowed under DCL rules, so go for it! I've seen many on formal nights and they look terribly uncomfortable.

Yes i am well aware of the statement. Clearly you think you are above others here.... hence... (need to look that up?) you have proven my point.

I say be comfortable but I will admit I am a bit saddened by the fact that people do not like to dress up anymore. You do what you do but I must admit I am very much looking forward to wearing my cocktail dress and my heels and my daughters cannot wait to dress up. I can wear shorts and be dressed down at home. Again I don't fault what others decide to do but I enjoy it.

It looks like the OP has gotten the answer she is looking for and then some. Since not everyone is playing nice, I will lock this thread now to avoid it causing more issues. Let's remember to keep things on track and keep the Dis a friendly place to visit.
