Okay....sorry if this seems like a weird question...but here goes. DD is 3 1/2 and prefers to wear knit dresses instead of shorts/jeans etc... She is tiny so shorts sometimes don't stay up...with a few exceptions. This is her first time going....I am trying to figure out if dresses will be okay for her to wear (she will be wearing tennis shoes with them). Any input...will they be a hassle?

My DD wore tennis skirts w/the shorts attached to them every single day when we were there last year. And this year, she wants to wear her summer sundresses with shorts underneath. She hates to wear pants or shorts...she is a skirt and dress girl. We had no problems with it and I'm sure your DD will be fine with her dresses. My DD wore tennis shoes last year and will be wearing them this year too!!

The skirts are great! They are cute and have the added "panty protection". My DD loves them and I even have a pair and they are quite comfortable to wear:)

On our last trip our dd wore little knit dresses through out our trip. She did start to get a rub rash between her legs after day two. So she wore very thin leggins that came to the same length or just below the dresses the rest of the time and this helped with the rub rash.

Dresses are great! I even wore skirts during our last trips, and I'm so not a skirt lady! DD is going to be wearing a LOT of dresses at Disney. Shorts don't really work well on my DD, either, they end up wedged in between her diaper and her leg. :(

My DDs 2 and 4 wore dresses almost everyday. They loved them. Seemed like they were more comfortable and cooler than the days they wore shorts. I have pictures of them playing in the water play areas with them on. It was so cute.

My girls love to wear dresses. I wish they made bloomers for the bigger sizes. I am going to buy some white bike shorts from gymboree for them to wear under the dresses if I think they will be climbing around so they don't flash the world.

My DDs wore light sundresses/skirts several days of our trip and were very comfortable.

The only thing I might worry about is rubbing/chafing (as another poster pointed out). However, at 3 I would think she'd be in the stroller for much of the walking so it probably won't be an issue. It was not a problem for my girls.

To prevent chafing, get a stick of BodyGlide from a runner's shop, and put it on their thighs; it goes on like stick deodorant. It will completely prevent chafing. (For that matter, you can use stick deodorant, but it doesn't work quite as well.) There is also a product called Monistat Soothing Care Chafing Relief Powder-Gel that also works very well, though it can be hard to find in stores (much easier to order online.)

I don't think that they really need to worry too much about shorts/bloomers at 3; I wouldn't bother making a point of that until school age. (Lord knows I went around showing my ruffle-butt undies all over the place when I was little. At that age I never could understand why the ruffles were on the back -- where *I* couldn't see them!)

PS: For little kids the play fountains are a major attraction, and it rains frequently in Florida. Over the years my family has found that a water-immersible sandal is normally a better choice for the parks than tennis shoes.

Thanks everyone...now I don't feel like I need to go out and buy shorts for her that she won't want to wear anyways! More money for Disney! We will have tennis shoes and Keen's for her. I might invest in a pair of white gymboree biker shorts just in case chaffing does become a problem...hadn't thought about that. She is still in toddler size so most of the dresses she has come with diaper covers....she is potty trained but we still put them over her undies since she isn't always super modest!
