Dresses and heat/humidity

We took our DDs (3&7) to BBB last month. Our appt was at 10:00am They had a blast and I loved seeing them dressed up. I put their shorts and a tshirt on underneath their dresses and told them when they got too hot or itchy I would take their dresses off. The temp was probably around 90F that day. It lasted about 2 hours before they wanted their dresses off. No problem. I can't belive how many little girls were dressed up ALL DAY! A few times I heard parents telling their kids how it would be a waste of $$ for them to take off their fancy dresses after they paid so much for them. I also saw severel kids wearing VERY uncomfortable dress-up shoes. Come on people... would you wear high-heals and a heavy wedding dress in the heat!? Please don't force your kids to wear something like that ALL DAY. Just terrible.

I agree with you.. our DDs did BBB last month and we put a lite weight sun dress in the backpack for each of them... (just in case) DD8 was Sleeping Beauty so she opted to put the sundress on after about 5 hours. DD5 was tinkerbell and was very comfortable keeping her outfit on all day.

I loved the fact that BBB had some nice choices for shoes as well... both of my DDs chose the flip flops... wore them all over WDW the next 2 weeks.
I cannot imagine having to walk around that much and be uncomfortable.

We had decided ahead of time that if they wanted to do the BBB (which they DID) they could take their hair down that night or keep it in... while we wanted them to enjoy the BBB we did not want them to be uncomfortable.

I am posting pics.. so you can see the shoes my girls picked... actually pretty comfortable they said.
Those choosing to do the BBB could suggest cooler options for the kids... The tinkerbell dress is one that they may very well wear comfortably all day in the heat.
