Dress Shopping Question

I'm ordering my dress from longs bridal in orlando as its about $1200 cheaper than here in the uk! I'm flying out to get it in sept! My mum and I went dress shopping here in the uk and then we found a place that could do it that much cheaper

I can't get over the price differences here compared to the UK. I've never really been out of the country though :sad2:

As far as cost, I am going to end up buying my dress on my own. My mom might help but she certainly isn't going to pay for it. That woman lives in a cave! She thinks $600 is too much for a wedding gown! I think she's nuts!

woo hoo! I'm not the only one that thought of doing something like this! :cool1: Where is your DF's family? I'm not sure how my DBF's mom would feel if I didn't invite her to come along and its not that I don't want her there but I think she would understand.

DF's family lives in SC. I am not close with them at all though, so I would never think of including FMIL in the dress shopping. I know that probably sounds mean but I've been w/ DF for almost 6 years and his parents go out of their way to not include me in things. That and she flipped when she saw how much $ wedding related items were. She almost had a heart attack when she say my BMs' dresses were $150. I thought this was a great price... she would die if she knew how much my gown was :rolleyes1

I think your FMIL would understand. Weddings are more about the bride IMO anyway. It'd probably mean a lot more for your mom to be there during the dress shopping than DF's mom :) Good luck!

PS- I am from Jersey too :goodvibes Holmdel in Monmouth County. I think it's a beautiful place, especially the Jersey shore. Oh what I wouldn't give to be laying on the beach right now ;)

My mom is clueless when it comes to wedding costs. I don't know why either, my brother was married here in NJ 2 or 3 years ago and I have 2 step brothers that had thier weddings in Long Island NY! She told me that $10,000 was too much for a wedding and that $600 is too much for a gown! Of course this is all when my brother was planning his wedding so her opinions will change I'm sure. I hope anyway!

I'm sure his mom will understand. I get along great with his parents. They are the cuteset people ever! They have been married for over 40 years! DBF has a sister that is 11 years older than him and a brother 10 years older than him...he was a surprise baby :rotfl: So his mom is 67 and his dad is 69! My mom just turned 50.

I don't go to the shore that much. It's a shame but I think I take it for granted because I've always been able to go. I wish I could move to Monmouth County! There are some really pretty towns there. I am too close to the city but the further away the more expensive and Jersey is expensive enough as it is
