I've only posted a few times as we prepare for our wedding, but everyone has always been so nice & helpful...and I need a little pixie dust now.

I won't bore you w/ all the details except to say I have to have last minute emergency alterations on my dress due to the incompetence of the first person who did the alterations. I'm getting married next Friday at SBP and was supposed to ship my gown to Carolyn Allens today.

Now, I won't have my dress until Tuesday before the wedding. Do I risk shipping it express, leaving 1 day if there is a shipping issue? :confused3 I REALLY did not want to take this on the plane. We've got an infant traveling with us, and we're overwhelmed with gear just for that.

If I do take it on the plane, it's not a huge poofy gown with a long train. It's a chiffon destination style gown with a very small sweep. Can I carefully fold it in drycleaning plastic and put in my carry on?

I'm so upset about the dress, I'm letting these details overwhelm me. Any advice?

I am a huge proponent of shipping the dress, but I say fold it up and stick it in a carry-on. I think you will save yourself a lot of anxiety (and money) over shipping the dress.

Chiffon does not wrinkle that much - plus, Carolyn Allen's can steam any wrinkles out, and it will look great.

Congratulations - and happy wedding! :goodvibes

I agree with Carrie. This just happened to my friend who got married in Colorado in mid-March. The dress ended up travelling with her and it was one LESS stress factor. You will feel better if you don't have to worry about the shipping issue. And CA will definitely make it look gorgeous for you! Good luck! Sending you boatloads of pixiedust: Happy WEDDING!

Thanks lurkyloo! As much as I'd prefer to ship, I think you're right.

BTW, I've been glued to your trip report the last couple of weeks. The attention to detail for your wedding was amazing. You could have a new career if you wanted.

Take it on the plane with you. I was married in Vegas, and had a full, long dress. The crew on the plane were VERY helpful, and hung it in the storage closet so that it was not folded up. Most planes have them, and they did it without question. I had thought about shipping it, but I was WAY to nervous. I carried it on the plane in the original dress bag, with my shoes, crinolin slip and veil also in the bag. It made me feel so much more comfortable knowing that I placed my dress on plane with me! Although my husband says he never saw me get as psycho as I did when someone tried to put something into "my dress's closet". Like I owned the plane :lmao:

Ooh! Ooh! I'd love to be a career bride, but I think DH would have something to say about that....:rotfl: Thanks!
