We have reservations for Aug 2....it's our 2nd anniversary! DH is easy....a suit and tie. But how dressy do I have to be? I assumed formal so I was thinking my floor length black dress. But we got the planning DVD in the mail and they seemed to show women in simple dresses not formal. So would a tea length black sleeveless dress with a sweater be appropriate? This is the outfit that I am wearing to a Saturday afternoon wedding in a garden...if that helps. I have no problem getting dressed up.....I would love to wear my long black dress again. But I don't want to be overdressed.

Either would be appropriate. If your dining time is before 7pm wear the shorter one, For a later Reservation, go with the longer dress.. the more formal option. I'm jealous though, I've been inside but have never eaten there. Have a happy 2nd anniversary!

The tea lenght black dress will be perfect. We have gone quite few times and you really do not see that many gowns on women.

Wear that long, black dress and be the prettiest woman there! It's your anniversary and you should dress up if you want to :) Although Allybri is right you may be one of the few in a more formal dress....

You'll be just fine as you describe. You'll see all sorts of things at V&A--these days I wear just a sportcoat and slacks, while Mrs U opts for a nice pants suit. As you can see from our signature pic, we used to get really dressed up. But it proved to be too darn hot to wear, and too much trouble to pack, all the finery. So we scaled down a bit---.

OMG! We have reservations for August 2nd, too! It's our 5 year anniversary and my birthday! Are you at the 1st or 2nd seating? We're at the 1st! We're staying at the Polynesian!

I'm wearing a skirt and silk-like shirt that has a matching lightweight jacket. DH is wearing slacks, a button down shirt and a sportscoat. Hope this helps! Maybe we'll see you there!!!!

I noticed you're from NJ - we are too! Mt. Laurel, just outside Philly.

Congratulations on your upcoming anniversary! :sunny:
