We are thinking about calling for adrs, but really don't want to dress up on vacation. What exactly is the dress code?

i wore a very casual sundress with flip flops and my DH wore a polo shirt and khaki shorts. there were people in there dressed like us and also some in suits and "dressier" dresses, but i think they were there for a wedding or something. here's a pic of us there, although you can't really tell exactly what we're wearing....

the little blurb below the dress code says it's business casual, quote, "not permitted in dining room: t-shirts, tank tops, swimsuits or swimsuit cover-ups, hats for gentlemen, cut-offs or torn clothing of any kind."

Some like to go formal while others will go in their park clothes; the dress code is resort casual. Ultimately it's up to you and how you feel about everyone else being semi-dressed around you. Since it's considered an upscale type of restaurant, some might not feel comfortable in their park clothes. Since this restaurant is only open for dinner, most enjoy the park and then head back to their room to freshen up. If you don't have time to freshen up, there's absolutely nothing wrong in going in shorts.

dress code is business casual as with all signature restaurants outside theme parks.

this is the official policy as per disney

# Dress Attire is Business Casual

Men: Dress slacks, jeans, trousers, or dress shorts, t-shirt, short or long-sleeved shirt with a collar required. Jackets are optional.

Ladies: Jeans, skirts, or dress shorts with blouse, t-shirt or sweater, or a dress required.

Not permitted in dining room: tank tops, swimming suits or swim suit cover ups, hats for gentleman, cut offs, or torn clothing of any kind. While t-shirts are now allowed, the policy remains that t-shirts with offensive language and/or graphics are not acceptable.

This is going to sound awful, and I was embarrassed of it when I first walked into the restaurant, but no one said anything and I didn't feel out of place at all.

I had on dressyish jeans, a white polo shirt, and flip flops. I had been walking around the resorts all day and didn't have time to change. I was nervous about it, but it all worked out in the end :)

If you decide to go, have the almond cheesecake. It's the most amazing cheesecake I've ever had in my life :goodvibes

Still not sure if we are going, what about capris with a t-shirt (nothing on it) and him wear tan shorts with a polo shirt. Would that work?

We'll be there tomorrow night. My wife was going to wear flip-flops, but I thought that they might be against the dress code. She checked the policy and thinks that flip-flops fall under the "swimwear" category. Needless to say, we had to go buy her better shoes to go with her intended outfit. How convenient...

In any event, I doubt that flip-flops are a big deal. Heck, everyone wears them all of the time around here (central PA), even in the winter. We both have Crocs, but I would feel funny wearing them to Narcoossees.

I'll be wearing tan cargo shorts, a golf shirt, and sneakers. My wife is wearing black shorts, a black and white patterned blouse, and her new shoes.

Narcoossees is a great place... you'll enjoy it. Make a late reservation and stay for Wishes.

iteachlit - i wore flip flops with my sundress and it was fine. but my flip flops were sort of dressy-ish. they had a wedge heel.....not the flat $2.00 kind you can get at walmart. oh, and tell your wife that i'm sorry if i foiled her plan to score a new pair of shoes!

to the OP - we really enjoyed our dinner at narcoosee's! the food and service were outstanding and the view was just gorgeous. we had an ADR at 8:10 and it was timed perfectly for wishes - we were just about done eating and watching wishes provided a good little break to let our food digest a bit before those last few bites! and then we saw the electric water pageant while eating dessert - it was perfect! we're returning there when we go again next april. i hope you go and i hope you enjoy it!!!

if you'd like more detailed information on our experience at narcoosee's, go to my TR (linked in my siggie). there's an index on the first page that will tell you where to find the info on narcoosee's so you wouldn't have to scan through the whole thing!

I think the flip-flops that may be "unacceptable" are those cheapo's that make a loud TWACK each time you take a step.
