Is there a dress code at California Grill? What would be the most appropriate dinner attire? Thanks!

Dress casual I think is the proper term for the way you should dress there or is it resort casual. You do not have to wear a shirt and a tie or have a sport jacket, etc. Just use your head, take a shower and show up dressed neatly. You will be spending about $125 and up for a dinner for two, dress appropiate. Or don't coming running into the place looking like you just got off the soft ball field after a 9 inning game.

i have worn jeans and khakis there with a nice top. :) enjoy!

We eat there every year and I have seen everything from nice looking shorts and golf shirts to suits and cocktail dresses. The majority of the male diners have on nice slacks and shirts, occasionally a jacket. For the women, it is usually pants and a nice top or a casual dress.

But, there is no offical dress code, correct? Meaning when you make your P.S. arrangements do they tell you that the dress code is business casual/resort casual and if you do not dress accordingly you will not be let in to dine?

I thought the only place on Disney Property that had an offical dress code was V&A's but I cold be incorrect. Anyone know the offical policy?

That sounds right. They did not mention a dress code when I made my priority seating.

There is no official dress code at California Grill? Do you need a dress code to tell you how to dress at a fine dining place like CG. I know you don't, but some people ask because they do not want to show up and find out the men have to wear jackets, etc. I believe that is the nature of the original question. :D

The origianl post was is there a dress code? I took that to mean, is there a dress code that disney enforces? The answer to that question is that there is no enforced dress code at the CG. So if someone comes over from the MK in park wear they will not be turned away. So it is possible for people to be dressed many different ways at the CG.

That being said I would agree that most people do dress up some because most people go to the CG for a special meal.

No, you do not need to tell me how to dress but your post implied that people coming from the parks would not be welcomed here and that is not the case.

You may not agree with people coming over to the CG for a meal after a day at the MK without showering(per your previous post) but they will not be turned away because there is no enforced dress code other then health standards of shoes and shirts.

We always go with dressy casual for CG.

we were "dressed up" because we went for Thanksgiving dinner, I saw people there in shorts and t-shirts and one lady in spiked heels and a red leather skirt. A lot of people were dressed up because of the holiday, but a lot of people were dressed casually. One group was all wearing the same type of gray golf shirt, I guess so everyone knew they were together.

the "official" policy is please no tank tops, or flip flops. But I guess grungy sneakers are ok, I wouldn't personally wear them, but I saw some kids wearing them! oh well, to each their own

Ah--a dress code question.
We've eaten at CG any # of times, always in walking shorts, and Disney T-shirts. Never a problem--there are always a lot of people dressed in similar fashion.
As has been noted, there is no "official" dress code--just a request for no tank tops, flip-flops, or bathing suits. As has also been noted, you'll see everything at CG from suits and ties, jackets, golf shirts, t-shirts, etc etc. Women the same--fancy dress all the way thru shorts, etc.
This is a place where you can dine in whatever form of dress you find appropriate, or comfortable. .

Well, there's no dress code persay ... my feeling is - how would you dress for a nice dinner, in a very pretty restaurant, at these prices, if you were home? LOL That's how I dress for here.

Nothing wrong with that, but generally speaking, dress will be more casual at Disney resataurants than at comparably priced restaurants elsewhere. Its pretty much a necessity since people are often going to be coming from, or going to, theme parks.

:p :p You are correct, the only place that has a dress code is victoria & alberts.,Pa@okw95, what in the world did you have at california grill that cost you $125 for two ? You must have had an expensive bottle of wine. We have eaten there numerous times, and with desert, we never spend more then $55 tops.

I don't think we've ever gotten out of the Grill for less than $100, at least! I don't see how you *don't* spend more than $55! LOL ???

My husband and I ate at the CG on our honeymoon in 9/02. We dressed casually, and found most of the other guests dressed the same way. There were exceptions but not many. Btw, the food was outstanding! One of the best meals we had on our trip.

It costs us a $125 or more for two and we do not have any wine. Are we talking about the same place here??We have a appetizer, usually their filet which is prepared different ways everytime we go, and dessert. My wife has a drink and I have a coke. I usually tip 25 to 30 dollars ,my tab runs around 125 and up. The bar bill before we sit down for the drinks and a $5.00 tip runs around $20. It costs be over $150 as a general rule for a nice evening of dinning at CG. I can see $55 for one person. Keep in mind I am going their for an evening of fine dinning.

We ate at CG this last September and DH wore khakis and a short sleeve button down shirt, I wore a dress casual blouse and capris. Frankly, we were better dressed than most--there were LOTS of people in shorts and Tshirts. I think that whatever you want to wear (except for tank tops, flip-flops, or bathing suits) is just fine. When we made our PSs for the trip, the only "dress code" we were told about was Citricos--the dining CM specifically said "Citricos is dress casual, please no tank tops, flip-flops, swimsuits, or cut offs". Hope this helps!

No, there is no dress code. I have found, however, that people are dressing up more for CG than they did 2 years ago. I was comfortable in jeans and a shirt in Dec on a weeknight.....but most people had on more dressy attire.

We've gotten out of CG for about $70/couple - no alcohol, some sushi and a shared main course. Realistically, it's alot more than that once you order separate main courses and dessert. Depends on how big your appetite is.

:D I guess we just eat on the cheap. No liquor , and either dessert {shared,} or an Appetizer, {also shared}
