We are doing the DxDP and (already) thinking about where to eat. Do the signature restaurants have a dress code? We will be coming straight from the parks and was just curious.

Yes they do have a "dress code" but I use that term very lightly, since they rarely enforce it, and it's not even really what I would really consider a dress code.

Taken from the Disney website;

Dress Code Guidelines:
Men: Khakis, slacks, jeans, dress shorts, collared shirts. Sport coats are optional.
Ladies: Capris, skirts, dresses, jeans, dress shorts.

NOT permitted in dining room: Tank tops, swimwear, hats for gentleman, cut offs, or torn clothing. While t-shirts are now allowed, the policy remains that t-shirts with offensive language and/or graphics are not acceptable.

I eat at several signature restaurants every trip, and I almost always wear capris, nice sandals, and a nicer top then I would in the park, but nothing too fancy.

Some of them do. We went to Artist's Point and California Grill. I wore slacks and a blouse to both of them, but at Artist's Point I saw some people in shorts and T-shirts. Didn't notice at CG, but I have heard that people have gone there the same way. I think it probably depends on who is at the podium that night. If you can wear a polo shirt to the parks that day, and nice shorts I don't think you would have that much trouble. We went to Artist's Point our first night, so I wore the same clothes that I had flown in, and we left MK and went back to our resort before we went to CG, but I always considered that a dressier place. The other TS restaurants we went to we wore shorts, T-shirts and jeans.

As long as you are not wearing bathing suits, frayed clothing and for men no beater shirts or hats, you will be allowed in. Flip flops are okay, tennis shoes are okay, any shorts, as long as hemmed, are okay.

HOWEVER, most people will be dressed nicer than this. Most people go back to their rooms and change before dinner. You can go in park attire because it is allowed but most people will be a little dressed nicer than that. If you are comfortable walking into places like this wearing t-shirts and shorts and tennis shoes, they'll let you in.

Some of the signatures have a more casual feel to them. Example: park attire at Ca Grill wouldn't seem as out of place as it would at JIKO.

The best thing to do is look at what is is NOT permitted and go from there.

There are always folks in shorts and T-shirts at all the signature restaurants. Lots of others in jeans, kakis, and polo shirts. Once in great while we'll see a lady in a dress, or even more rare, a man in a jacket. My suggestion is to dress how you'll feel comfortable within the dress code and not worry about how you're going to look to others.

I could be wrong about this point but I think the only place that really enforces a strict dress code is Victoria and Albert's at the GF. :tinker: :tigger: :smickey:

Khaki shorts and a polo for guys
A nice summer dress for women. Or capris and a nice shirt.

Sandals would be okay for both.

^ That's usually what I go buy, and it's what we're comfortable in. But you'll see some people in park attire, and some people in tuxedos and ball gowns.

So if my DH is wearing a polo and khaki shorts he's good at Yachtsman's, right?:)

We ate at the Yachtsman Steakhouse, Jiko, Brown Derby, California Grill, Artist Point and Narcoosees during our last trip.

I always wore tailored shorts and a short sleeved shirt.

Some people had polos on although people were mostly dressed pretty similarly to me.

Personally, I'd rather duck back to the hotel for a quick shower and change so I'm fresh for dinner.

Failling that, why not chuck a clean shirt in a locker when you enter the park so you have something fresh to change into for dinner?

The dress code means no tank tops, flip flops or swimwear.

Other than that you are good to go.
