I will be wanting my dress cleaned after the wedding for the party back home in the UK (7 days after we get back) I'm worried that if i leave it and get my dress cleaned when i get back to the UK they will not have enough time to do it and get it back to me.

Does anyone know if Carolyn Allen's actually cleans dresses and if so, how much is it and how long does it take?

Thanks

Hi, I'm in the same situation as you!

But we fly back to the UK on a Wednesday morning and have our party/reception on the Friday night!! We have 2 days to get our dresses steamed!

But Im planning on ringing a couple of local dry cleaners, and booking the dresses in. It may well cost more for such a quick turnaround but I want the dresses to still look perfect for our party.

Funnily enough, a local dry cleaners have leaflet dropped our place, and offer "local collection and delivery" so I'm going to give them a ring and see if they can collect on the Weds afternoon, and get back to me on the Friday afternoon.

This may well be a better option for you, as even if you get it cleaned whilst you're away - it will probably still get creased on the flight home.

We had the same situation - one week after we got back we had our at home do and my dress was a state, especially where I hadn't bothered to pick up the dress when I walked as I never got a bustle. I was even considering not bothering but I got objections from friends that they all wanted to see me in it....... so our "do" was on the Saturday and I eventually got around to taking my dress to a local dry cleaners, not even a specialist, on the Wednesday. It cost £60 but I got it back on the Friday and they did a really good job.

Thanks for the replies, they've helped a lot.:D

I actually spoke to Carolyn Allens on Friday and they told me that they would have to send the dress away to be cleaned and it can take up to 8-10 weeks!

I'm so glad I've received your posts as I didn't realise they could do a wedding dress that quick. I will have a ring round some local dry cleaners and see what they say ...thanks again!

p.s. Also, just have to say it - it's my 12 month mark tomorrow...YIPPEE!!!! :jumping1:

Eek. I hadn't even thought about this. I must phone around some dry cleaners as I get back on Saturday and then my "at home" reception is the next Saturday. Good thinking ladies!
