*Dreamy Spring Double-Dip* March 13, 2012

Hi everyone and welcome to the new cruiser that have added. Its been a while since I've checked in. I'm organizing the FE and as mentioned in an earlier posting I will get things started in November but I have started the spreadsheet and have a few names already. If you want please provide the below information to me and I will get you added to the list. The final list will be provided to those particpating in late January/early February, which should give everyone plenty of time to get things going. We are very excited but DH won't let me start the count down yet. Enjoy the fall weather, we are in Albuquerque and the weather is truly wonderful. Can't wait to meet you all.

Kap@abq - just sent you a PM with our information for the FE. Thank you so much for organizing it! My daughter and I are really looking forward to it.

Re: trip plans - My daughter and I have free dining ressies at POFQ from March 10 thru the 13. The plan is to fly in on the morning of Saturday March 10 and fly out on the afternoon of Sunday March 18, but so far the only airfare I am finding is outrageous--about three times as much as I'm used to paying.

I know there are a lot of Dallas/Fort Worth area folks on this cruise--I would really appreciate it if we could share information on any good flight deals. We have always flown American or Airtran in the past, but I am speculating that since Southwest bought Airtran (Airtran's site says no flights out of Dallas after November 2011) and it is complicated to fly Southwest out of Dallas (always more expensive than flying southwest out of Austin or Houston and longer flights due to stopovers because of Wright Amendment), now American has little incentive (and little competition) to give flights out of Dallas good prices. I looked at Southwest out of Austin--the prices are better but the flight choices are limited, so probably not worth it to drive three hours (plus have to pay to park). Anyone get what they consider a good flight deal already out of Dallas?? Anyone still looking and monitoring like I am?? Any ideas??

TIA

Brenna! Cool! I used to live in West Oak Trails (near Loyola).

I know that area well. I went to W H Morden Elementary for Grade 8 and then Blakelock for high school. A bunch of my friends went to Loyola before it turned Catholic. heheh

Our dinner rezzies are for the late seating, and we didn't specify private or not. Our last cruise we got our own table, but we ended up talking with the people next to us. They were a couple that got put together with a family with very young ones and didn't speak a lick of English. I suppose if you let it really get to you it could make for crappy dinners. I would imagine though you could speak with the head waiter and see if things could be shifted somehow.

Does anyone have any suggestion for a cruise name then? For some reason all I can come up with are "The Bahama Dreamers".

It doesn't look like we get a Day at sea until close to the end of the cruise so a meet on that day might not be the best. We would either have to plan something between a port day and dinner, or perhaps we could wear something distinguishing to alert a fellow DISer? I'd love for my daughters (14&13 at time of cruise) to get a little more adventurous this cruise...they stuck to us like glue on the last one (not that I minded!).

Yep, we don't have our sea day until Friday, but that could be ok, we could see how everyone's doing. We still have six months to go, I'm sure more people will be in a little later to help with ideas :)

On our FOTS cruise, we signed for a Cruise Critic Meet & Mingle .... (we actually could all do that too). Cruise Critic is prolly the largest cruising message board and the cruise lines know it. I'm not sure what they do for Disney though. We had 100 people on our last one (Royal). We get a reception in the Viking Lounds with food and drinks and we all got little giveaways from the line. I can look into it..... For Royal, you need a min. of 25 people to qualify for the party.

We could all wear a plastic hawaiian lei on the first day. Of course, as Queen, I can also wear my crown.

We are fortunate to be doing B2B, with this cruise being the second of the two. I will be traveling with my awesome brother (Joe) and one of my two daughters (Alyssa 12y.o.) My husband and oldest daughter are passing on this trip for some reason.

We will be new to the Disney Dream, but have cruised twice on the Wonder. First on a 3-night "try me" cruise and then again this past January on the Panama Canal cruise. That may explain why a 5-night cruise just isn't long enough. We are really looking forward to trying the new ship. I hope we like it as much as the Wonder. The ship was unable to dock at Castaway Cay during the Panama Canal trip, so we are hoping to make up for missing that with the double dip!

I talked my brother into flying in a couple days early. We will arrive late on Tuesday, March 6th, staying at the Pop Century for 3 nights with the free dining offer. We are planning on going to DHS and Epcot. Then use DCL transfers from Pop Century.

I'm looking forward to trying some of the adult only areas and activities. I'm hoping DD can make a few friends and enjoy spending time at the Edge. Although I know it won't be hard to enjoy ourselves on this trip.

Happy planning,

Diane

Wow! It looks like us Iowans will be surrounded by Texans and Canadians! We (DH 42, me 41 and DD will have just turned 10) are really looking foward to the cruise. We sailed on the Dream in June for 4 nights and fell in love with CC so we decided we needed to book the 5 night cruise to get 2 days at CC. :cool1:

Looks like a great group of people and kids. Since DD is an only child she always looks forward to making friends. :hippie:

And we would definitely be interested in a meet at some time. I will continue to watch this thread to see what pops up.

See everyone in March! :goodvibes

Just found out yesterday that we will be cruising on March 13!! Cannot wait, we are going to be doing WDW prior to the cruise and looking forward to it!

This is our second cruise and if an FE is being one, we would love to participate!!

Just checking in... Fall has finally hit us here in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. I know once we get past all the holidays, the cruise will be just around the corner! So excited! Have cheap tickets to fly back from the cruise- now just need to find some to fly there!:cool1:

Just checking in afer a while. Been busy planning another cruise with the DW on the Carnival Magic on her first cruise out of Galveston. DD12 is getting excited about her first cruise and can not wait to see her experience it. The way airfares are going up, I am glad we booked months ago. DFW to MCO is getting real expensive. Looking forward to doing the FE thing and we're already looking for things to give away.
Welcome to all the new cruisers on the thread.

aamove - small world, I am from Mabank, TX - just a few miles from Forney. CRAZY!!!

Tonight we are sitting down to plan our airfare. Flights from Alaska are limited to get there and all are red-eye, so we have to buffer a travel day on each end to adjust accordingly. We are the only ones that are OK with the late dinner seating. LOL!!

So, tonight I was thinking, on our last cruise we had a Facebook page for the group to get to know each other by face. What do you think??

Traveling from Alaska, that must be exhausting! How long is the flight?

You're not alone, we're ok with the late dinner also.

I'm not on facebook so I won't be able to join you there.

So looking forward to this vacation! :cool1:

The flight down is 11 hours travel time. I believe we have a 2 hour layover.
I just dread sitting that long.
Seriously - didn't planes have lounges with like a bar and dancing?? Or was that only in the movies? Like 1970's movies?

I am thinking someone is missing out on some major moolah, as I would so fly that airline everytime!

Wow, that is a long flight! I think the longest I've done is 7 hours to Europe, and that seemed like forever. I've seen planes like that in the movies, think they're all private jets though. :rotfl:

We will be joining you on this cruise. 4 more Canadians. :thumbsup2 I'm interested in a FE if someone is organizing one.

This morning, I will be releasing one of the corner 9A's at the front of the ship. These are supposed to be around 400 sq. ft. But they only sleep 3. Somehow I ended up with 2 reservations for the sailing. :rolleyes1

Happy October Everyone!

For those that have just joined this group, WELCOME! Just in case you haven't read all 11 pages of this board, I've taken on the task to organize the FE list. The list will close in Jan which will give everyone on the list plenty of time to plan and get their gifts ready.

Update: We have 9 kids, that is 7 families total. Each month the list is growing, how exciting.

If you haven't joined us please PM me the following information: DIS-Name, E-Mail, Your Name, Parent Occupation, Age of all traveling including Children’s names, Dinner Seating, State Room#, Hometown. I will send you confirmation that you've been added. I'm only on once a month till November and then I'm on more after Thanksgiving. So if you don't hear from me for a month that's why.

Thanks and I truly do not know who's more excited my husband and I or our daughter.

Kathy

Sorry it took so long to answer back, but the facebook page sounds great. We are getting ready for a cruise out of Galveston on Carnival and someone organized a page and we have over 100 members. I think it would work out great if we did the same thing. Anyone know how to set it up?
