I was wandering about everyones opinion good or bad concerning booking a cruise through them. I have always used a travel agent but can save $650.00. It sounds like a good deal if I can do it without aggravation! I Need to book by Tuesday.:confused3 Please help if you can.
Thanks,
Shari

Well we have used Dreams for 4 of our last 5 cruises, so I would say we are happy with them. I will tell you that if you are someone that needs "hand holding" during a travel arrangement (hope that doesn't sound snotty, not meant to) then go with a local TA. You deal with a Dreams associate, but only via email and DCL sends the docs right to you. That said, if you can get a group cruise rate with Dreams and the onboard credit, go for it--they will treat you right, especially Sue Ellen!

Hi, I would save the $650 and book with whover is least ex*****ve. Once your cruise is booked in the computer, everything is turned over to Disney so I do not really think that it matters who acutally makes the phone call to reserve your cabin and take the deposit. In fact, many people do it on the computer without ever using a travel agency.

Best of luck

Thanks to both of you. My Travel agent that I normally use is checking to see what she can get it for. If she cant beat their price, I am going to try it. You can tell from my signature that this is not my first time, but have always had gullivers travel do it for me. I know everything that I am suppose to have but its reassuring to have someone hold my hand!;) On the other hand $650.00 will pay for excursions or tips or whatever. Now, I have another question or two. Did you book your own airfare? We will also be staying a couple of days at wilderness lodge. Will they handle that? What about transfers? I have always purchased separate insurance to cover the entire trip instead of being separated out between the airlines and disney. I just dont want to be on what is suppose to be a relaxing trip turn into a fiasco!!!!

I'll try and answer your other questions:
We always book our own airfare. I can always get a better deal than DCL air and better flights (especially from the west coast!)
If you are planning to do Disney before or after cruise, Dreams can handle those arrangements for you and also transportation between airport/disney/port.
As for insurance, I always go through insuremytrip.com and get the best deal to cover the entire vacation, airfare included.
If you book Disney air and transfers etc., insurance is automatically included in the quote.

Thanks to everyone! I think I am going to do this myself this time. Has everyone had good luck getting their documents in time? Last cruise TA did my documentation online. I should be able to handle that one so I shouldnt get much more than transfers and such in mail.:confused3

We just booked our 2nd cruise while onboard the Wonder and I just transferred the reservation to Dreams Unlimited...they had an additional stateroom credit they were offering and you need all you can get!!!

I am going to do it. We are also planning on booking for next year while we are on board this time. Do you get any kind of discount while on board? We were too busy to ask questions last year. We had the best time and our children are totally hooked. We loved it because we were confident in our childrens whereabouts and when we checked on them we were never let down. Our problem is we love the parks too! Last year we did five days in the parks then the cruise. We were completely worn out. This year we arent even telling the children until we are on our way to the airport. They are going to be so surprised!

When we rebooked, the 'deal' was 10% off and (depending on the cruise you booked) a stateroom credit. I would guess it'd be the same, but who knows.

I will definately be checking this time on board. We (me and children) are wanting to go on a seven day western December 2008 with some disers we met last year. On a seven day, the discount could really be good and if I did like you and switched over, I could get the on board credit as well! I hope I can talk DH into it before we go this time. Cant you hear me now..... I know you are letting us go this year after telling us no before but can we PLEASE go ahead and book next year too?! I bit the bullet and booked today for this December. I am going to make myself a checklist of what all documents I need and go for it. Thanks for everyones help!!

I just wanted to also chime in for Dreams Unlimited. I booked our Land/Sea package with them (Barbara is fantastic, by the way). They were exactly the same price as the Disney Cruise website, but did offer a nice stateboard credit, so we went with them. Also, since I haven't been to Disney in 9 years, it's nice that Dreams Unlimited (Barbara) will help me to plan my trip.

Same here. We use DU, but only because we got the $100 ship board credit. They really didn't do that much as far as I'm concerned. Next time I will probably just book everything myself.
