If you've never been on a cruise before but you're itching to try it, this week's Dreams Unlimited Travel Podcast fills you in on everything you need to know from booking a cruise all the way through the end of your cruise.

Enjoy the show!

This was very helpful - we have our first cruise booked for next February (disclosure - watching the Dreams Unlimited Travel podcast prompted my to reach out/request having Tracey as my agent for the cruise ... so far she has been wonderful). But I still feel like there are so many "unknowns" for me in the planning process. I know in the end we will have a great time, but the more I can reduce the amount of "I don't know what I don't know" the better I will feel and this episode definitely helped with that

A. You will have a great time (it's a Disney cruise and you're you) and you already have a great agent, so that's most of the war won right there.

B. I think it's really important to keep in mind what the podcasters talked about several times. You can have a GREAT time on a cruise even if you pretty much ignore all aspects of planning aside from logistics, so long as you have the right expectations and the right frame of mind.

Thanks for this - and I do feel pretty confident we will have a great time and also not look to overdo it. We actually purposely picked an itinerary that had an extra day at sea vs another port just to almost force us to spend more time doing things on the boat

I am just an ultra planner type so I am feeling like I don't know what to put in my spreadsheets the way I do for planning a WDW trip ;)

Only big thing I think we need to figure out is what we will do pre-cruise as I know we don't want to risk traveling down departure day - so do we go to a Disney resort for a night or two, go to a resort near the port, or just stay at the MCO Hyatt? But we will figure it out and I am sure Tracey will help :D

I listened, even though I'm not a big cruise person - the only cruise I've ever been on is that Hawaiian cruise that Pete was talking about - and he was right, the service wasn't terribly great.

It was very informative and I loved to hear about the differences between some of the other cruise lines and Disney. For me, Disney is the Parks, so I'm unlikely to ever really go on a Disney cruise, but I got family that's considered it, so who knows?

We have our 4th cruise coming up, and I still was taking notes. You will love it! Cruising really is addictive! :rolleyes1:cool1:

If I could be so bold as to pitch in 2 cents ... personally, I hate airport hotels and don't mind spending a nice quiet night near the port so I'd be down to picking between a night at WDW and one at/near the Cape. And since you can't really dial in your departure time on Disney transportation if you stay at WDW, I know I'd pick staying down near the port. We've done that once or twice and it makes for a nice relaxing departure. For my cruise money, getting on the ship well rested and unstressed makes a huge difference in the experience we have on the ship, at least early on. We did that fly in day of the cruise with your air on fire deal once ... and never again.

Thanks, I appreciate your thoughts. I was digging in a bit more and we are also limited by having 6 people. So at a lot of hotels we would need two rooms, but was looking and we could do a family suite at AoA for cheaper than 2 rooms basically anywhere (and definitely less than 2 rooms at the MCO Hyatt) so i am leaning that way. Maybe go down for 2 nights (not do any parks but just relax a bit, maybe do a character meal or 2) and then use Disney transportation to the port. I know the negative is they pick the time-frame but thinking we can just deal with it
