I did read your statement as a slam. You didn't ask any question, you stated that Dreams "Marked Up" their quote, and then gave a discount.
i thought i was planning far enough in advace --4/3 land-sea starting may 22 2005-- but apparently not. i will wait for other quotes and see if anyone can do any better. i just chuckled when i saw
dreams unlimited gave me a discount that was equal to
their 'mark up'.
Since you are such a savvy traveler, you know that most cruise lines, including Disney will give group discounts. Many agencies will reserve a block of rooms and pass the "saving" onto their clients. Maybe you will get lucky and find an agency that has reserved rooms on the date you wish to sail. Or maybe you will find an agency that is willing to part with more of the commission that is paid to them by the cruise lines in order to "discount" your fare. Maybe you will find an agency that sells more Disney Cruises than anyone else and thus is given a price break from
DCL directly that they can then pass onto their clients. But to accuse Dreams of "marking up" their price and then discounting it is, in my opinion, a slam.
The amount of poests make a big difference. Most people with so few posts come here seeking advice, but maybe you are in the minority. Maybe youi are smart enough to see something that we should all be aware of, although after reading many posts from Dreams clients, they are usually right in the ballpark of low pricing.
I hope you do find a lower rate, and that you will come back and share it with us here.
Disney cruise rates are among the highest in the industry and discounts are not easy to come by.
